Bloody hell, Lille lost to relegation threatened Nimes. Still, four points separates top four teams. But I guess PSG will start to pull away from this point onwards.
I hope Nantes manage to stay up!
I think the best we couldāve hoped for is at least some sort of fight, it shouldnāt be surprising if PSG still went on to win it, but maybe not with a sick margin.
So refreshing (and surprising) to see the title race still alive even at this stage.
Yeah itās good to see, I wish them all the best.
With six rounds to go:
Lille: 69 points
PSG: 66 points
Monaco: 65 points
Lyon: 64 points
Kovac doing a good job with Monaco. Bayern seemed a level too high for him, but looks like he found his Eintracht āformā again. Monaco with about a hundred players, but he seemed to have selected well and looks to bring them back to Europe.
I wonder if Monaco will once again sell their most valuable players and start all over again or will they try to keep hold of them and build on this season.
Sell!!!
Monaco as a club just cannot generate money, and so once Rybolovlev stopped pumping money in they just really donāt have the recourses to be anything more than a second rate Dortmund.
Itās very complicated financially in Ligue 1. At least Monaco can get relegated without having to worry about what the supporters would do.
Thereās teams like Rennes who work on an extremely tight budget, those like Monaco with great formation centers. and those like Marseille who as well as having crappy presidents that promise the earth and donāt deliver are forced to pay silly rent money for use of a stadium (and really they were forced, either pay up or loose your associative status) being reduced to letting players go on frees in the middle of their contracts. Only PSG gets a free ride (even so I donāt know how they wriggled out of having to move to Stade de France which woul have put some extra finantial pressure on them).
Lille have done well because the city is run by someone who cares, they could have followed the route of Lens.
Really hope Lillie can do it, probably the must watch title race in Europe alongside Spain
I can understand that sentiment.
For me I have no affinity to Lille and PSG despite their undeniable advatage have kept the French Ligue Un on the map. Also had some interesting Entraineurs produced somegreat teams and been entertaining. Itās good that thereās some challenge there now however I and I think the majority of French amateurs of Football are grateful for what PSG have done and hopefully will continue to do.
Of course if Nantes or Marseille where mounting the challenge I would be fully on board for PSG to stumble as it iss I donāt care, i just appreciate what PSG have done.
Have PSG done any favors to the League??? Itās been a decade since their ownership change (and the resulting splurge) but has it contributed to better sponsorships or broadcast deals for the League or the other clubs? You yourself have mentioned that most of the clubs are running on shoe-string budgets.
Not one iota, to be honest itās the same with Man City no one needs them to be rich, none of it is beneficial to the league, in fact if it wasnāt for us the PL would have been a dull fest for the last few seasons.
The same applies to other leagues dominated by a single club. Spanish League, in my opinion, has the greatest global traction after PL and thatās because several clubs (Valencia, Sevilla, Atletico) challenged the duopoly over last 20-25 years. I remember Italian League being huge in the 1990s because there were always several clubs in the mix.
Important late goal for Lillie but now back down to the make no mistakes unless of course PSG fuck up ahain.
Yeah, that was disappointing. Good thing is, PSG has to keep an eye on Monaco and Lyon too. Their remaining games are against mid & bottom table teams, so Iām guessing they will make it in the end.
That was a crazy last 12 minutes shame they got the win.
The only European treble still alive.
Minus Cityās possible League Cup instead of the FA Cup.
