Plenty of positives to take (that said, I hope Robbo is not seriously injured)! Looked really good in possession and it’s really interesting to see Elliott play between the lines (he can play in midfield or further forward). Could be our answer to Foden.
Liked our midfield with Elliott, Milner and Keïta and the young lad Beck. van Dijk looks a bit rusty defending.
What worries me, but that’s normal for me is the lack of goalscoring.
He is not that good yet. Maybe he can become that good, but I doubt he will reach Foden’s level this season.
Edit: in my opinion.
Ohhhh that’s interesting yeah we would never call a shirt relating to football. Learn something new every day
a few thoughts… very good workout for the boys… def needed that before next week… hope robbo is ok…glad we have tsika to step in… very impressed with iako williams… last we were linked with him a few years ago he was jus a skinny talented headless chicken type player. he has filled out and his game has really matured, totally different player
Not this season, to be sure! But given some time, I think he’s up there.
And a kit a uniform, while we’re at it.
Apart from Robertson who worries me a lot, this was at least very good training against a good team. Very hard to say how much in route we are (or not). Some of our rivals looks dangerous. I just can’t say. But I am hopeful and I didn’t really think we would win any Prem title at the beginning of our championship season either. Then again, the best surprises are always the positive ones, so I prefer to be “grounded” in my expectations.
All in all, okay so far without any kind of “hurrah”. I guess that will do
At least its a good warm up for the kind of quality we can expect in the coming weeks. Im curious what the Osasuna game will tell us but for now, Sadio looks ok, he will need to be on form for this season.
Harvey Elliott makes me want to believe that he is ready to feature in premier league games or european games this season. Beck looks like a respectable back up addition for our full backs. Big question, for Norwich would we start Tsimikas or Milner? (Im hoping its Tsimikas)
Regarding Keita, he was ok , in stretches he was really decent. But there were some parts of the game where he was dispossessed so easily. This is not a pre season problem, Keita has had games where he loses the ball or the ball gets stuck to his feet around the box and we dont get anywhere. Again when the field is wider he excels more, but in tight spaces i dont know he just struggles to shield the ball from the opposition. I dunno maybe i just expect him to be better… maybe its wrong to think that way.
The amount of times the opponent cut us on the counter (they failed to do anything with it) But it is still concerning and i hope Van Dijk and Trent specifically can get back to organizing the defence to better handle situations like that…
Otherwise pre season game, really worried about Robertson but hopefully it will all be ok. On to the next one
Fun game to watch that, very high tempo in the first half especially. Salah and Mane look like they can’t wait for the season to start, so much energy. Lots of nice individual performances.
Hopefully not too serious for Robertson. Looked bad but doesn’t have to be.
We’re a bit too static around the penalty box when we play against organised defence, hopefully something we can improve during the season.
Does anyone know what LfcTV had to apologise for? Nigel Spackman apparently said something in the pre match broadcast.
It is/has always been called a shirt…
As in…
" He is playing for the shirt"
NOT
" He is playing for the Jersey"
Once you have spent a month or two in Scouse-land you will pick up our lingo, I’m sure
As do people who say cellphones instead of mobile phones.
They’re probably the same eejits who say uniform instead of kit.
I think he has more tools in the box than Foden, wrt how he sees and expresses the game, esp between the lines and the interplay between his ability to play central and to switch wide…
What I’m looking at is how much balance the team can have and retain with him as part of the MF trio.
He’s giving the team an extra dimension in terms of the central MF play
I went over on my ankle like that yesterday I can walk slowly on it today with a limp. Sure Robbo will be fine but yeah probably not before the internationals unless it’s not caused any damage.
Yeah I fully did one of those once walking down a hill when drunk. Walked 3 miles home on it and went to bed.
Was swollen the next day so I iced it and took some ibuprofen/paracetamol and it was okay after a week or so.
Hopefully with immediate treatment from experts who are paid to do that, Robbo will be okay.
Yeah if it’s like the one I did on Pen Y Fan that was about three months but footballers are different if it’s not broken and it probably isn’t he will be a month or so.
I thought Salah looked really sharp, apart from a couple of missed chances. He was purring. Fancy him to get a hat trick at Norwich.
Keita was poor IMO. Flatters to deceive with a couple of nice moments, but he just doesn’t seem the right fit for us.
Elliott on the other hand looks like he’s been here for years. What a prospect!
With Klopp that means there is.
