Excited about Darwin Núñez of course…but the others youngsters really impressed and excited me in today’s match: Stefan Bajčetić, Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott. Milly must also be saying “count me in with the youngsters’ energy!”
Unlike the Manures who overreact because they won a few games in preseason, I won’t.
We are going to win the CL, PL and Nunez will score 30 goals.
Will take the first one, the second would be even better but the third is no consolation unless one of the first two happens.
Only 30?
The 2 attacking trios showcased here is droolworthy :
Diaz Bobby Mo
and
Fabio Nunez Elliott
with Jota to come.
Well done to the Scouts once again with young Fabio. Some serious talent there.
Nice problem for Klopp to have with the depth. The big boys will have to stay fit and in form. Nice problem to have boss.
And Manure dominating the sporting headlines here in Oz with the travelling circus. Hurry up and fuck off.
The Dutch newspapers are unbearable with Ten Hag winning a few friendly’s
SCOUTS?! Fuck that I think it’s clear the club just read my youth reports from last season…
Fabio Carvalho
- Position: AM
- Age: 18
- Nationality: English
Aged just seventeen, this Portuguese born England U18 international made four appearances for the Fulham first team and scored with a spectacular explosive finish in a 3-1 defeat to Southampton. A right footed player who plays across all the positions in the frontline, Carvalho is a technically excellent player who plays quicker in his head than his feet. He makes good runs, which has already caught out Premier League defenders - as shown with his first team goal. At his best playing off the wing, Carvalho is a highly creative player who also loves to dribble at defenders, confident in his own ability to go past them. With Fulham back in the Championship, Carvalho will no doubt be confident he can push for regular first team action.
Will Nunez fit in with Diaz and Salah? Will Elliot be a winger or a hybrid CM? Will Carvalho be Diaz’s understudy? How would Jota fit in now?
I’d say it’s more Nunez adopting to Mo (who looks back to his electrifying best), but you never know.
When Diaz, Bobby, Mo played it was Bobby coming deep and Mo and Diaz making the runs off the shoulders between the lines… Then when it was Nunez, Elliot, Carvalho it was the opposite, Nunez off the shoulder central and Elliot/Carvalho going wide and dragging it back across the box.
As you say be very interesting how it plays out when we try and combine those attacks.
@Sweeting now that you are the chief scout I eagerly await the next report. No pressure.
Serious talent…
I think my favourite part about him (and often, many of the kids who’ve played in recent seasons) is that he didn’t look out of place. Nothing really spectacular for me, but also just able to keep up with the rest of the team.
Bajcetic came over here with a good reputation but started off in the youth teams as a centre back, a position which doesn’t fully display his best quality.
His ability to take the ball facing his own goal and move it on quickly is seriously impressive, one that most players don’t have. Add good height and mobility to that and you have a player who looks tailor made to play at the base of midfield.
Definitely a player worth giving every chance to. Maybe mens football will be too quick for him at the moment, but that’s far from a given. Looking forward to seeing him play in the cup games next year.
This is the most exciting group of young players I can remember
Hes probably a rare example of a youth player who hasn’t been hyped enough for his level of talent because of how he has been used at youth level so far. Came into the U18s at RB when he first signed, moved to CB and a little bit of DM then got injured didn’t play much. We haven’t really seen all the qualities he has displayed at first team level yet.
Not that his performances are any surprise but just that his best strengths as a player haven’t really been shown at youth level the same way they have for the first team so far.
I was going absolutely ga-ga about how well the younger players have been integrated into the team yesterday, albeit that several of them only have 20 or so minutes. I was gushing non-stop to my dad on LFC being in a good place with the young talents. Even typing these words got me excited about LFC next few years.
I am a sucker for an aggressive first touch that beats a defender. I’ve only just seen more extended clips of the goal and was wowed by Fabio’s play in creating one of Nunes’ goals (the third?).
