Are we losing in the Semi or the Final? I hope the latter, as I’ve got my first trip to Wembley on Sat and a win would be nice!
League is always the bread and butter.
Don’t care what City, Chelsea or others do.
If we end up only with the League Cup, what can you say. Anticlimax ending yes, but overall, cold headed, I can’t be unhappy with our season considering where we came from and how far/close we went/got to in all competitions. That’s a minimum, like Trent said.
I’m just enjoying this 00/01 2.0 campaign.
Doubles don’t happen so often, unoriginal trebles are rare, original trebles are rarer, quadruples never happened.
Now it “just” depends how it will end, but whatever happens, I will feel good going into this summer and next season.
Yeah for me it’s the spitefulness of knowing if any of their knobhead fans mention anything I can just ask them, for all their billions why they still can’t win the greatest trophy.
If there’s one team City would want to beat in the CL final to win it for the first time it’s us. If I had to chose, with a gun at my head, I’d rather win that. If you’re throwing in the FA Cup to soften the blow of the league I’d take it.
Bollocks!
With all the smoke blown up their assholes about how great their team has been over the last few years I would love nothing more than to smash them in the final to be the first team to win the Quadriple
There are two teams where the owners would literally kill babies in order to win their first CL. Please, not in my lifetime.
Surely it’s 3? Unless you’re talking about the club’s first Champions League…
EDIT: Actually, no matter what, it’s 3. Thought PSG had won it before for some reason…
Newcastle didn’t even register to me, but yes let’s make it 3.
We need to build a massive lead in the first leg against Villareal.
We have Spurs after the second leg, would be nice to be able to rotate like we did tonight. Villareal don’t pose the same kind of scoring threat that Benfica do.
City will find themselves in a tough 2-legged tie against Real, which might lead to some forced rotation in their league matches around that time.
If we want to win the league (we do), then we have to be as close to perfect as possible the rest of the way. No fuck-ups, please.
Come on, no team is rotating 7 players in the SF CL even with a nice lead a massive leat is Utopia.
Doesn’t have to be 7 players, could be 6. Or 5.
Anyway, if we’re 3-0 or 4-0 up after the first leg, I think we could feasibly field a strong enough xi to see out the tie in Villareal, that doesn’t have to include starting the likes of TAA/Mane/Tiago/Fabinho etc.
I don’t think that Villareal will be a walk in the park that people on social media suggest. Yes, I’d always take them before Man City or Real Madrid over two legs but this is Emery we’re talking about, a master of cup competitions who’s built a team that is very similar to how his Sevilla side used to play. They are technical, defensively very well drilled and they are dirty enough without being anywhere near the Atletico territory. I’m expecting a tight affair over those two legs but let’s see how the lads deal with the imminent FA Cup and league games first.
Because we’re in two semis, the worst case and best case are now only separated by 180 minutes of football. We’re that close…
Hopefully, we make the final on Saturday. In that case, Soton on 15th will have to be on the Wednesday 18th. We’ll have had the maddest ever April followed by a month with 7 games!
The Anfield groundsman’s off-season starts at 7pm on 22 May. If there are no plans to re-lay the pitch, he can have a break. If the club does the right thing, he’ll be working double shifts until August.
I think they’ll be taking the pitch up, there’s a few gigs at Anfield in June. Rolling Stones, The Eagles are just two of them.
2x FA Cup
3x CL
7x PL
12 more wins (in a month and a half)
We’re winning the FA cup, and the Champion’s league.
And the Premier League.
That’s all.
Goes without saying, innit?
Oh Lineker…now looking at the view
So we will still fit in every game with at least a 3 day break until the end of the season right?
It’s all about squad management now. We are blessed with the deepest squad in the world so we need to make the most of it and be creative with what we have if we don’t want fatigue and injuries from fatigue, to creep up.
