The 2 most malinged Liverpool players leading the stats in the Premier league games Liverpool for attacking contributions.
Those stats only seem for LFC not the whole league?
Liverpool
If they are forwards who have played the most games, you would expect so.
I’m still stuck in my boring meeting, but my boss has bribed me with Mettwurst on a roll.
Press conference details here:
-
Conor Bradley has returned to team training, with Slot hopeful he will be available for the game against Leeds at the weekend. Fellow right-back Jeremy Frimpong remains sidelined, but is set to return to team training next week.
-
Slot said Alexander Isak scoring his first Premier League goal for the Reds on Sunday “was very positive”, but the striker told his manager on Monday that “he felt a bit of cramp coming up already”, so they will see how he trains on Tuesday and decide whether he will be available for the Sunderland game.
-
Isak, Florian Wirtz and Joe Gomez “are not able to play three 90 minutes in a week” yet but “all three are able to play in all three games if they don’t get an injury”.
-
On how disappointed Mohamed Salah was at being dropped for the game against West Ham: “It’s a normal reaction from a player that is good enough to play for us. He wasn’t the only who wasn’t happy he wasn’t starting. The way he behaved is the way you would expect of a professional. He handled himself really well. A top professional.”
-
Slot said Salah is expected to leave for Afcon on 15 December, but added: “Always in these situations there is the player and the national team involved, and there are always talks about what is best for all three of us.”
-
On Regis le Bris’ Sunderland side, who are sixth in the Premier League, two places and one point above Liverpool: “Big compliment to the manager because they brought in a lot of new players and they started really well. A very hard-working team with a very clear identity of how they want to play on and off the ball.”
-
On social media abuse: “Abuse is never a good thing if it is about me, the players or other managers. I am not a social media person; I don’t have it, but I am not stupid so I know it is there. What I know and what I feel is the support the fans give me in the stadium. They sing for the team, but also for me.”
He didn’t play Isak or Wirtz for 90 mins ![]()
If rumour is true that MO has been given licence to stay in an advanced role for the full 90mins… then there is a solution for MO and his lack of tracking back ‘guilty verdict’ in not helping our defenders out… Rescind this instruction, order he tracks back every time it is needed, and substitute him at the 75min mark if he starts to tire, as what happens with every other player in the team.
The days of him being elite enough to garner special privilege, to me anyway, are long gone… If he is ineffective after starting games, haul him off, change shape if need, and use the squad.
All good things come to an end. We seem to be at that juncture
Totally agree, great post. Messi and Ronaldo were/are often allowed to just walk around the pitch as they feel like (Messi in the last world cup rarely broke sweat but ended up winning the tournament) not only because they can change the game, but more often than not WILL change the game! Mo and players like him to a certain extent do get given a bit of freedom in that regard because of their output, but Mo is certainly not that player now and for the remaining time he is here needs to fit in with whichever way of playing keeps us winning/builds for the future. To me that looks like a reduced role in the first team as that way we keep him fresher and hopefully keep getting lots more goals from him. I believe he still has a big part to play before he gets sold either in the summer to Saudi or next, but at the same time we need to be looking to Florian/Hugo/Alex etc much more now as they are hopefully going to deliver for us in the same way that Mo, Mane, Bobby, Virgil, Robbo and so on have/did for so many years.
Thought this was common knowledge. Don’t know if there are any direct quotes from either Arne or Mo but I’ve read about it on a number of articles and it’s clear as daylight when you watch us play with Mo under Arne.
Except Gravenberch who stays on until he looks dead!
I would like to see him let Isak play the full 90 minutes. Later in the match, there will be more space for him to score more goals, which is good for his confidence. Even Gakpo could score then. ![]()
Gakpo has 5 goals this season and scored in the last game.
Was it this one he said after we won the title against Spurs last season:
“You can see the numbers,” he said. “Now I don’t have to defend much. The tactics are quite different. I said ‘as long as you rest me defensively I will provide offensively’, so I am glad that I did. He listened a lot and you can see the numbers.”
Eventually all human-devised systems fail.
Just can’t see this happening. Ekitike will likely start given Isak had a bit of cramp (as reported in the presser today by Arne).
Nobody has the licence to stay advanced and provide nothing defensively.
Some wild rumours going on I see.
Sunderland’s aways have been tight affairs, only 3 goals scored and 4 conceded in 5 matches. I think they’ll sit deep and try to hit us on the break or with a set-piece.
If Joe can’t start then give Ramsey a game, just don’t play Dom at RB again. MacAllister should be dropped for Jones or even Endo.
Reality is Dom will be RB if Joe can’t start, Mac will play the full 90 and Mo will kill most of our attacks.
I liked Mac on Sunday, one of his improved performances so far this season.
It’s a low bar.
