Liverpool vs. Arsenal: League Cup Semi-finals (first-leg), 19:45 Thu 13th January 2022

Fair comment about not wanting fans to travel given that there are staff shortages with the emergency services now.

Agreed @Rambler and @Zoran. I don’t at all think this is a trophy the club or the fans should be turning their noses up to.

I always shudder at the disappointingly smug suggestion we are somehow ‘above’ the competition.

Especially if we are already in the semi-final, it would be reckless and arrogant not to plan to win this.

I am not superstitious, but @Iftikhar starts thread, match gets postponed. We need to use you strategically.

Someone please check the Loon.

I have vowed never to go there again.

The poor dears might not be dealing with this news very well.

1st leg at home? That’s unfair.

We will have more players available after the weekend (Alisson, Matip, Firmino, Minamino, Thiago?, Origi?) but for me it looks like many first team players will start three games out of the four now. Muscle injuries incoming.

The postponement and forfeiting home advantage in the second leg is changes the dynamics in this.

Klopp will be trying to go very strong at Anfield against Arsenal, he has to go as strong as possible vs Brentford and Palace and the squad for the second leg (Arsenal away) will depend on the result of the first leg and fitness of the players.

I think this postponement will prove to be the boon we needed…

DAMN!!!

The official LFC statement doesn’t miss, does it?!?!?!

We would like to place on record its thanks to the EFL and Arsenal for their understanding, as well as supporters of both clubs, as we continue to navigate through this challenging period. We are confident that had it been Manchester City things would have been very different; they are a pack of sleazy cunts.

A ten-day stretch that will do wonders for north-south relations.

To my surprise, a sensible outcome. Unfortunate to lose the drawn home field advantage, but moving the postponed game at all is the least disruptive. I was not optimistic after that 2019 idiocy.

I know it’s not ethical but whatever…

If I had to guess who brought Covid to our training ground I would say it could be Taffarel. He arrived a few weeks ago. First the Brazilians were tested positive now goalkeepers and goalkeeping staff… :grimacing:

I have and they are not. :sunglasses:

Even Elliott can be back for the second leg.

A bit unnerving to lose the second leg at home, but in this case, the EFL have taken the most sensible approach. Fair play to them. Hopefully the players can get a good rest now while waiting to come out of their ten-days period. Thinking about it, maybe now would be the best time to pack all the players who haven’t yet had it together, put one infected player among them, and bingo…

I dont think it is ever a case of being above it, but of prioritisation.

Ifti’s played a blinder here. Top notch!
