Liverpool vs. Arsenal: League Cup Semi-finals (first-leg), 19:45 Thu 13th January 2022

Then you’re right now :yum:

Saw that “Salah and Mane” was trending on Twitter, was wondering why.

Instead stumbled into a cesspit of Arsenal, and oddly enough, City, fans suggesting that we’re just trying to buy time until the two get back.

It’s a month of fixtures. Also, not sure why City fans care so much, but Arsenal were going to get battered if we had no ongoing COVID problems so I’m not sure why they’re so fussed…

Given the fact Orient had to forfeit, surely they have no option but to abide by same rules or they will get slated? Hence the delay.

If I was an Orient fan, I would be fuming at any different outcome.

Let me guess…they’re only asking because they need to win the League Cup to try and keep up with us etc etc

Something along those lines?

Unfortunately, I don’t have your capacity for masochism, if that’s what you’re asking…?

No, the rules for semi finals are different to earlier rounds and allow for moving dates.

Orient’s issue was also that they had no free dates they could move the game to. That isn’t the case here.

Wasn’t the forfeit requirement because there was no space to reschedule? We do have some leeway with rescheduling it I think?

Boo!!!

It’s like you’re asking me to find something out for myself!

Outrageous.

We’ve been looking for some time…

At the very least we should get to know today. With this outbreak, at least the Premier League can’t stall it until tomorrow for a decision. The circumstances are getting fairly special now, we may actually get a postponement if it’s possible with rescheduling. If not, we shall have to field a reserve team, such as it will be, or forfeit if we can’t field enough players.

It truly sucks, this is one of the trophies we still got a major chance taking. The least of them, but still. Now, I suppose we will likely lose if we field a team since our reserves are not really at Arsenal’s standard. But at the very least it would be match training…

Caffeine? Is there caffeine in beer?

Go for it SYBM

They seemed to have a quicker decision that we are getting…

I don’t think the club would forfeit under current circumstances.

If they ask us to play tomorrow we will.

Which (play with whichever players are available) in my opinion is better than moving this away game between the two league games and suddenly have to play the first leg at home.

I don’t care if we have to play with Karius or Pitaluga. Try to get the best result tomorrow and finish them off at Anfield because by next week we surely will have a strong squad available.

How is there still no answer either way?

Orient had their game with Bristol Rovers PP on NYD after tweeting on NYE at 6pm the game was on.
Yet Bristol Rovers said they hadn’t even bothered to leave for London due to covid so there was no way the game was ever on. Maybe we should do that!

NYD at 10.30am the game was PP.

Apples and oranges - the PL has been the decision-maker for most of the prior decisions. Consider how long UEFA took to decide what to do about Spuds, although that delay was after the match was scheduled anyway.

After that 5-0 absurdity against Villa? All that a one-sided beating would do is legitimate the competition, and right now, it doesn’t merit that. I valued that cup in the '80s, rather less so twenty years ago when it seemed like a silver excuse, but it has become farce.

Who said play the kids this time?

Trent, Neco

VvD, Gomez, Konate, Koumetio

Robbo, Kostas

Hendo, Fabinho, Milner, Curtis, Ox, Morton

Jota, (Minamino), Gordon

We don’t know who was tested positive yet but surely we can field 11 players who can get a result against Arsenal (they are also missing many key players).

My biggest concern is that if we don’t play this game tomorrow Klopp will be forced/tempted to play many of the above mentioned players three times in 8 days (Brentford, this Arsenal game if moved and then Palace)

The first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Liverpool scheduled for Thursday 6 January 2022 has been postponed following a formal request by Liverpool due to a severe outbreak of COVID infections amongst their management and playing staff.

The EFL has been in regular dialogue with the Club over the past 48 hours in an attempt to understand whether the tie could proceed but significant developments over this period have resulted in the Club reporting an ever-increasing number of COVID cases.

Having now fully reviewed the circumstances involved, the League has accepted Liverpool’s request after determining, albeit reluctantly, that a postponement was the only option as the Club looks to mitigate against the further risk of infection amongst its squad and staff alongside ensuring public health was protected by not travelling from Liverpool to London.

As a result of the postponement the order of the ties has now changed with the first of the two-legs to take place at Anfield on 13 January 2022 at 7.45pm. The rearranged game (now the 2nd leg) is scheduled to be played at the Emirates on 20 January 2022 at 7.45pm.

Happy with that - seems a sensible compromise, and gives us a fair chance. Arsenal can’t be disgruntled with having home advantage 2nd leg. But we will hopefully have a stronger line up.

It’s being played between Brentford (16 Jan) and Palace (23 Jan at 2pm).
