I do agree, but my concerns are the defensive lapses in our game, throughout the season and thats not taking into account the areas we sometimes lose possession, for a lot of the season we have given up too many easy chances. It is the area that to win the league, which we still could do, that we have to improve in.
Agreed and defensively we were good but they scored 2 worldies, I can accept that deteat as we were by far the better team, but our defensive performance tonight and during other games was and is too naive and lapse
Terrible as in spotting teams the first goal. Needing last minute goal to survive games. To get a win. Missing plenty of chances. Defense very porous. Allowing goals with few chances from opposition.
Just because we managed to win/ draw most of the games doesnt mean we are playing well.
When last have we had a proper 90 min performance and won comfortably.
Every game we are on the edge of our seats with worry.
I know keepers are there to make saves, but when we consider the defensive lapses we had that allowed them to score 3, Kelleher also made 2 huge saves in the first half. When you factor in that sometimes good teams will score goals from half chances, it is just too many clear chances given up to not come badly unstuck eventually
Yep we are a good team but not perfect and also we are a team with a lot of young and new players, we would have been happy to be where we are at the beginning of the season.
I completely understand what youâre saying. We are a very talented team. But our flaws are letting us down and making every match tough to win. Credit to the lads to getting this far. But we are not playing to the level we need to consistently. To win triples and quadruples
Atalanta played well, and I am pleased for their manager, who goes about things the right way, is a good coach, and has put in a large body of quality work there.
On our end I am concerned. The performance was below par, and Atalanta looked big, strong and hungry. We had chances - how could we not, but it wasnât enough, and it wasnât good enough.
My concern is down to what this could potentially point towards.
Is it just some bad form?
Or is it a blip and canât be classed as bad form yet?
If so, can we snap out of it quickly enough, or is it hitting us at the worst possible time?
Have the players hit some sort of wall? Physically? Emotionally?
Are they listening to the manager in the same way?
Are some of them mulling over their options in a post-Klopp world?
Can we regroup to have a real good run at the Prem title?
Itâs not gone, not by a long way, but it will be if we donât snap out of this shit asap.
Final word can be a positive. Cody Gakpo. He has been criticized, rightly, for floating around games and not getting stuck in enough. He is probably the only player who comes out of that with some credit.
Im not getting this notion its bad form. We played well enough to bury United. Not taking chances didnât mean that we constantly cut them to pieces. Tonight yeah very shite but it happens.
