Liverpool vs Brighton | PL Match Day 7| Sat, 1 Oct, 15:00 | Anfield

Back him for sure, but he’s a mess right now. That defensive clearance on the back post just there was as good for Brighton as they could have hoped for. He arguably didnt need to do anything with the cross, but nodded it back down to the penalty spot. We were lucky as fuck.

Of course, we all know that Trent’s going to get the winner.

For us, that is.

True. :joy:

We should slate away, and hopefully every match going red piles on too.

That’ll learn him.

Another half time bollocking for them from JK.

They are probably immune to it now :joy:

No point discussing it then

I think we will get a draw out of this, but a draw is still a very bad result for us given our horrible start of the season.

I am not surprised watching this game, just a bit deflated and sad. The trend continues. I mean, even if we turn this around and win, this is still damning and not even a late win can change were we are right now. We are not a top team, not now. Many teams are now better on average than us. This needs to change fast.

When they become immune, that is when either there is a need for new hungier, fitter players or a new manager.

The lack of a good back-up to Fabinho is showing. Trent’s attitude today is horrible. Jogging back when he coughs up the ball in midfield? WTF

I think we all know that the system that we are setup will always expose TAA in defensive spaces and that is something for JK and the coaches to work the system out and previously it has worked out more often than not but yet TAA is not without his fault too. Its obvious that as a player, somehow he lacks the composure in defensive settings, that last header in the box just before half time almost led to a dangerous moment again. And that is something I think is something he has to work on if he wants to continue to dominate as one of the best in his position. But for now, lets win it in the 2nd half.

We are winning this! We have another half to rectify this. Believe man!

IIRC Trent was brought into the team as a right-back since that was the quickest path for him to get into the first team. Once he was there, Klopp devised a strategy where the fullbacks became responsible for a lot of attacking creation, which worked a treat with the right midfield cover until our midfield went off the boil and teams figured out how to neutralize and exploit it. As much as he has made his name as a right-back, and was in the World XI as RB not long ago, I do wonder if it is the best place for him to be long-term.

Trent is having a terrible game of course but I don’t think he’s just doing “whatever he wants” with regards to his position, it has to be instructional. He hasn’t always played like this, Klopp and co have had plenty of time to sort it out and there are other players who could start ahead of him if necessary.

Personally I think it’s time to take Trent out of the side or play him in midfield, even if it’s just for a short while. He’s basically already playing there anyway and Henderson and Elliot aren’t making a strong case for the position.

Diaz and Jota are the obvious subs here, or Nunez. This is painfully poor once again. Not a single iota of improvement made during this extended break.

After the Ajax game, I was expecting a much better performance for this match. But no, it’s back to square one.
Additionally our attacking play is so slow and ponderous. There’s no spontaneity in our gameplay. We only know hoe to pass the ball sideways.

Too many direct balls from us in the first 20 mins. Should have mixed it up a lot more with short passes at times, rather than constantly looking for the 60 yard switch ball.

Brighton second goal was all about the cushioned assist, lovely goal for them.

Took us two goals down to start putting some passes together, and we then looked more lively.

Diaz should come on at HT. Only positive is that Mo is getting onto the box much more than what seems like the rest of this season combined.

I wrote on TIA that the athlete’s mind is a mysterious thing.

Trent’s must be in the worst place it has been in his time at the club.

wow that was worse than Napoli , Trent must be binned , the midfield is old and dont have half the energy that Brighton has . my prediction stands lucky if we are in the top 8 .
we must adapt we must change our formation or simply spend some money like our rivals

It has been very bad.

Joe Gomez started a few, then was swapped out for the slightly more stable Matip, but it still hasn’t been there. Not picking Matip out, just the change we made… we are still jittery.

Whoever first made the point about the quadruple hangover may have had a very good point. We went so close to being immortalized, and since then, we have been flat as a pancake. Exacerbating factors were also a shortened preseason, where arguably we got the fitness prep wrong.

I want to see Diaz for Carvalho and Nunez for Firmino. Get some pace and mayhem on the pitch as it all looks too labored.

if only we have a lad in the middle that can smash a 40 yarder accurately to give the opposition something to think about.
