Fsg will never spend big…unless they sell big…
but who do they sell? we have old and broken players
For the first 20 minutes we looked like a team that hasn’t played for a month. Totally rusty and very disjointed.
We are starting to look a bit better. Hoping that not playing into the sun and a couple of tactical subs at the 60 minute mark might help.
Arse of a season really. We need to play ourselves into form and we just aren’t getting the breaks to do that.
I think our team is calling out for 3 at the back for a long time now.
Don’t know why some of you are digging out the attack. Brighton are slicing through our defence like it’s butter. These chances should be snuffed out. It’s hesitant non-committal defending. Brighton are first to everything, and so much more decisive is what they do.
I still fancy us, but only if we get a fucking grip of this defending and clear our lines.
I honestly don’t know what we did when the games got cancelled for the nation mourning. It was a perfect opportunity to get some intensity and structure back but again we start utter shite.
There isn’t any excuse about being tired from the internationals, most of the team out hardly played if at all.
Our 2 CDs and Fabinho can not defend.
Most of our attacks break down when Salah touches the ball.
Also, whisper it quietly but Mo has lost a yard and while he is obviously an excellent player, he should not be immune from being dropped.
I know Diaz starts on the left, but I wonder if he can play on the right, too? Nunez can come in from the left, if we play Jota centrally. I’m not saying we should necessarily do that, but just trying to illustrate that Mo should not be untouchable.
Brighton play very economical football 4 shots in total and all on target, we had 9 3 on target 3 off and 3 blocked
Fair comment on the defense. It has been at sixes and sevens.
Three at the back might be an evolution we make, or possibly 4-2-3-1.
Right now we look like an older team, and younger, hungrier players - such as Caicedo and McAllister, are on top.
If you look at the Red Sox, they win the World Series and then usually drop off the next year. In American sports, where the whole point of the season is to get hot during the playoffs, you can under-invest and still win — there is far more parity and opportunity for upsets. In the Premier League, you can’t. The fact that we have beaten City in the League even once with 1/4 of the net spend is insane.
TAA has been horrible but singling him out is unfair. Salah, Matip, the entire midfield haven’t been much better and the rest are average at best. It’s a shambles all over the pitch.
Been saying for a few games to get TAA to play a few games in a row as the 2018 version where he would attack the right side up and down the pitch to the touch line, rather than coming in midfield at every opportunity.
Get a run of games together, then go back to the new tweaks if want.
But their shots are all dangerous shots which shows an abject lack of shielding in CM and CD.
they are jus quicker and younger… even more decisive and incisive in the final third
Because when they attack we are wide open and every single chance is a goal or needs Alisson to save it v’s when we attack we’ve taken so long to get near their box we are trying to thread a pass past 10 players and when we do shoot its typically blocked.
Something I wouldn’t mind seeing but iirc Klopp has only done it once here during a mad Xmas run with a number of injuries, not sure if he ever tried it at Dortmund.
It’s as likely to happen as Trent moving into midfield. Zero chance.
We essentially have 3 at the back, Matip VVD and Fabinho all 3 are shit atm.
Bollocks. 17:00. I’m having a bottle of Mönchshof.
yeah, I agree. Let TAA do what he use to do the best. Fizzing crosses from wide. Fuck me, what is he doing as a CM!
