Liverpool vs. Porto: Champions League, 20:00 Wed 24th November 2021

Happy Birthday Ifti, from your posts I’d have sworn you were 17.

Captain Alisson tonight.

I‘ve decided to watch the game as a friendly. From that moment there was no nervousness in me.
Not sure whether that will work for epl-games

That’s a point, why does Klopp play Mane and Salah in friendlies as well? Fucking negligence.

His 76 mins on the weekend was allegedly (cue butchering stat) the most minutes he’d played in a single game since the big knee injury. This is exactly the sort of game he should be getting a recently well earned rest from.

And one of the better ones. He needed this run of games similar to how Keita was getting. Even Matip is playing back to back games.

That’s not true, or even close really. He played more against Atletico, Norwich and Preston this season for one, not to mention plenty of games more than 76 mins in 19/20.

Fair enough, but he definitely hasnt played a full 90 since before that injury and so in that context, having played 76 mins in one go on the back of repeated starts is precisely the sort of player youd be looking to give a break to.

He was quite good last time he played. It gave me hope, that he may return to the great player he was. Really cheering for him this game.

He’s played a full 90 twice this season.

Ok. The point is completely negated.

Sorry, but that’s hardly just pedantry. Both facts were untrue.

He played 3 times in a week not so long ago, including a full 90. I don’t see why 76 minutes 4 days ago means he can’t play another 70 odd today, if not more.

Hopefully he will get better and better playing more games. This is his make or break season after the injury, or he is unfortunately likely to be sold I think. He did very well against Arsenal. Not amazingly so, but he did well.

Ultimately I think Klopp is giving chances to the guys who have earned that chance. He isn’t doing charity selections just to play it scared of an injury.

They’ve just won 4-0 against Arsenal and are playing at Anfield with little pressure on the game. He’s challenging the squad players by saying if you’re a squad player and you’re on the bench its because you haven’t earned a chance.

Love Hesgoal. Like taking a foreign language while watching football. Just wish I understood which language I’m trying to learn here.
