Liverpool vs Real Madrid| CL Round of 16| Tuesday 21st February, 20:00 | Anfield

Again, Henry’s comments now make it clear that we are looking for a minority investor.

But it is disingenuous to say we didn’t test the water with a full sale.

We have a direct quote from the Chairman and FSG key stakeholder.

Can’t really argue with you there.

Yeah I thought we’d do well to get a draw but its CL night at Anfield, we usually up our game and overwhelm opponents……conceding 5 like that is nothing short of disgraceful, nothing really to argue. There is no justification or explanation for that collapse.

“We’re exploring a sale…” said Werner.

That’s the direct quote, from Liverpool Chairman and key FSG stakeholder.

So based on the direct quote, it was reasonable to believe we were for sale, in whole or part, putting all the information together.

Since then, Henry has said minority investor.

You’re changing tact now because it doesn’t mention a full sale. My response to Jabu is clear no where does it mention a full sale.

Its conformation bias because thats what you believe it meant.

It is awful to take … I also wanted to hope that we are back after that start of the game.

But there are a few huge issues in our game… and these have been discussed already i’m not gonna start to list them again.

CL nights at Anfield… Gotta be the worst loss at home since forever. When did we ever concede 5 at Anfield?

No idea but apparently there’s nothing to be embarrassed about so who cares eh?

No change of tack. Again, Tom Werner said, “We’re exploring a sale…”

To imply that fans were making it up is wrong. We have a direct quote, from the Liverpool Chairman and key FSG stakeholder.

We were for sale, in whole or part, and engaged the services of a couple of banks to explore the options. The outcome is that a partial sale now looks likely.

We await the details to pick over the bones of it.

Edit: that’s what we know. I will speculate below.

My speculation is that partial investment was always more likely, unless the owners received an offer for the whole lot that was too good for them to refuse.

Clearly they didn’t.

And/or they preferred to keep hold of us while Man City face 100+ charges. Maybe a rules based order will emerge, at which point owning us for longer is more appealing.

And/or they preferred to keep hold of us as the only bidder to buy the lot at a price close enough to tempt them would have turned into a saga, assuming it was Qatari or similar, and many fans would have protested.

Well….we got 2.

Turns out that wasn’t enough and we needed 4 more.

Yes. And now we need three. To take it to extra time. Same as we did in Istanbul to take it to extra time (but with twice as much time, but not in a neutral ground), same as we needed vs Barca to take it to extra time (but not at home).

Both cases done with a sub-par team, so us being how we are is not a reason of this not being possible. Is it highly probable we will get smacked yet again? Yes (as it was highly possible in Istanbul’s second half and in Barca second leg… it all just seemed beyond us).
Unlikely? Yes. Nigh impossible? Yes. Done it before? Hell yes!

So until the tie is over, I won’t give up, and I am very well prepared to be disappointed and broken hearted and I don’t care. I will believe and support this team to the end. Win together, lose together.
