Figured if we took the lead, we’d have a chance, given we haven’t scored many against Madrid in recent history.
2-0 and all I could think about was the number of times we’ve let teams back in from 2-0. Didn’t think we’d give them five.

players read FSG say we are no longer for sale… that was their FUCK u FSG moment
I disagreed with the subs. Nunez was our most threatening player. And Gakpo was doing ok too. Salah should have been substituted before either of them.
Some behave as if this is a massive loss to a midtable team. I am not embarrased by this. We are having a terrible season, can’t go around expect us to march all over Real Madrid. I predicted a narrow loss, this is worse than that, but we were still brilliant in the first half, much of it at least and it is a known problem that we are mentally fragile these days.
No reason to be more dramatic than this result and game deserves imo.
Subs were baffling to say the least….probably knew tie was over and saving them for Palace.
Agree. The forwards werent the issue so id have kept them on.
FSG never ever said the club was for sale supposedly in the knows stated we were.
Its embarrassing.
If Utd lost like this to Barca last week it’d be embarrassing, its embarrassing.
Any chance we can get the post match thread open?
I don’t like the score line in this thread!
Yeah, whatever. I don’t think so really. But feel free to be embarrased and ashamed. I am not in the context of our season.
i guess they were jus testing the waters
Direct quote from Tom Werner said that FSG were, “exploring a sale.”
I’m not in the know. I just read a direct quote from our Chairman and key FSG stakeholder.
Since then, John Henry’s comments supersede Werner’s, and clearly we are looking for a minority investor and Henry said talks are ongoing.
Alison started it and Gomez and Fabinho just kept helping real destroy us.
New shareholders it states it in the article.
FSG recently said it “would consider new shareholders” amid reports it had put the Merseysiders up for sale.
To be honest, as anticlimactic as that was, I prefer getting the worse defeat in Anfield European history and putting up such a fight with such a start, than performing like recently and losing 1-0.
We gave them one of their worse European defeats at Anfield, not sure if they ever have had a worse one, or a worse aggregate one over two legs (5-0), without even scoring…and that was some team they had there back then… So ok…
To me, the game was lost to fine margins…and quite diabolical ones, if it ever ends being diabolical this season…

For me, embarrassing were back to back defeats to brighton and wolverhampton and brentford in the premier league.
The results, 3-0, 3-0, 3-1the manner of those defeats.
Against real in the CL, I hate that we lost and were completely overrun, but if u look at our season, surely you did expect exactly this. I was very surprised by the start of the match.
That’s part of it. Keep reading!
You will get to, “We’re exploring a sale…” said Werner.
This performance is our season in a nutshell.
Just cannot get any momentum or consistency. Ok we dont play Real every week but weve been hammered for 3 v brentford, brighton and wolves and now we have to pick ourselves up and have to try and go again.
Palace are shit but they will be up for this Sat. Will we??
We have players that shouldnt still be at the club who are still starting games.
But the Ali mistake kills the game and we lose it there and then. All the confidence from the last 2 gone and all the horrors of the 3 above games comes flooding back.
So if you’re selling shares is that not exploring a sale
FSG partner Sam Kennedy said: “It is early days in terms of exploring possibilities for possible investment into Liverpool.”
