I cannot understand that decision what is left is relegation fodder she is their best player and to sell to the top team in the league your vice captain as well is crazy. If it was Hughes who was dealing with the transfer then I would not be worried as he always has a plan but the women’s team technical director is someone else. When they set them up at Melwood I thought here we go they mean business but so far it is worrying.
This is sort of related to this thread as it brings into question what is the women’s team linked to a established men’s team - an asset or an actual part of the club’s culture. Chelsea, and now Everton, have sold their women’s team to finance their men’s team and to me this comes across as wrong - feels both insulting/degrading to the women’s team and a scam.
Not nice. Just a blatant one time attempt to pull the levers to avoid FFP violations. Isn’t going to help them much as this is a lever that they can’t use again.
The possible upside I can think of this w.r.t the women’s team is that with them being run as effectively another company, there will be a seperation of units. People wishing to sponsor the women’s team can effectively do so and not have to sponsor the men’s team.
This is what I like about the women’s game there is no animosity between the rival clubs while in the men’s game it is like religious sects where it is taboo to buy and sell players from and to rival teams. We identified a good manager got him in job done with the minimum of fuss.
