Some things are bigger than football. Prayers and thoughts are with Lucho and his family.

200 million pesos is being offered for info helping capture.

I’d imagine the club is behind such an amount

That’s around $50K

Oh I checked again and Google was giving me Philippian peso :joy::joy:

So, what’s the situation now?
Last night it was reported that both parents had been released, his dad after a gunfight. Now the BBC are reporting that his father is still being held.

The police are leaking Diaz’s phone calls now strangely enough.

Not ideal at the minute and it seems his dad is in Venzulua currently which is not good.

I agree that the leaking of the phone calls, no matter which side is the source of the leaks is not good - some things really do need to stay private.

In regards to his father being moved to Venezulua, why would this be worse? (I know very little about either country so am curious as to why it would be worse)

Gotta be more difficult to co-ordinate cross border strategy. Colombia has been trying to mediate in Venezuela‘s political crisis, but there is so much banditry and corruption in both countries that anything like this is extremely complicated.

How common would it be for kidnappees to be smuggled across borders in South America or is this a new development? And if it is common, then wouldn’t the authorities have systems in place to co-ordinate rescues?

I think you’re underestimating the levels of chaos in South American politics and society.
