It doesn’t help. He had a great understanding with Robbo down the left. A lot of the time Kostas is in all the areas he wants to be.
It’s never a good look as a player to have your effectiveness dependent on another player, but I do think you’ll see a different Diaz when Robbo is back.
The other factor is the injury. It was a really nasty one and it put him out for pretty much the whole season.
His head is probably still all over the place after the last few months… Having his family around him in constant attendance, might also be adding to the burden of clearing his head… More things important than football etc
Perhaps. Equally some players have said that they played their best football when things were going to shit off the pitch. Anger and fury channelled onto the pitch where they could escape everything else.
He’ll be fine. He had a big injury then his fucking Dad got kidnapped and held at gunpoint for over a week. Let the lad have some time to find his groove before we write him off.
Similar questions were raised about van Dijk last season after his injury but now, having been given time to fully recover, he’s bossing it again.
Diaz got mentally and physically fucked over the last 12 months, just let the lad be for a bit and he’ll get back into form.
Time to drop him and pull him out the firing line? A lot of 6/10 performances - looking a bit ineffective after a positive start to the season (obviously some mitigating circumstances too)
You’re much kinder than me - I wouldn’t give any of his recent performances more than 4/10. I just hope these gits didn’t get him injured again because it looked like the knee of his standing leg bent unnaturally after that tackle.
The worry is he doesn’t even look capable of producing anything right now. I’ll give him
the assists for Everton but it’s 1 goal 2 assists in his last 15 games now.
He gets the ball enough times to force something but ends up playing safe everytime.
Surely his best performance since coming back from back to back setbacks ( injury and then the kidnapping). Looks like Klopp is saving him for the next few games when Mo will be away. Hope he continues to play with freedom like he did today.
That was Diaz of old, ball sticking to his feet like he had glue on his boots, weaving past players at will and playing meaningful passes. More of that, please!
There were sparks in another game possibly Burnley but likely Arsenal or another recently where I thought it was signs but yeah he was more like his old self last night.
