his best game since back from injury. had some spring in his step today and a good finish at the end.
Some good news here, a new babygirl has arrived yesterday. Congratulations
I like Diaz, he is a really good and exciting player. But he should try passing more often.
If he had someone to pass to in the first half last night it wold have helped us no end. He was like a terrier in that game.
He was enigmatic last night (in a good way), really not fussed if a player has a hattrick of chances and fails to convert before scoring the 4th chance he gets and we go onto winā¦the grit and determination he shows to be involved in absolutely everything until he went off, he stepped up when we needed him to as they all did but it needed to come especially from the front men last night.
Delighted he got his goal in the end, rounded off a brilliant display.
Shouldāve scored at the start. Then went on to force things, end up in blind alleys, etc. Wasnāt helped by our dynamic on the left side on the day. Noticed he actually went more central to create a two up top when we started from Kelleher. Nice he finally got his goal. First time into double figures at Liverpool.
Iām still not sure what to think of him. When in full flow and self-confidence, heās a joy to watch, one of worldās most exciting players. Last night, though, when he should have taken the responsibility because our three best attackers were absent, his finishing let him down massively (and Iām not sure that his movement in the first half was the best either).
Iāve definitely been spoilt by Mane, no question about it, the guy was everything I wanted to see in a winger/forward - and pre-injury Diaz looked like he might have been a player of the same consistency in beating a man, scoring and assisting, with the added bonus of being able to run for hours. Weāll see what the new guy can coax out of Diaz, hopefully there will be no more injuries or family drama to put him off his course.
Heās flexible itās all that Peloton
The engine and stamina on this guy is insane.
Overrated.
Very profligate today. Certain other players would be lynched on here for a similar performance.
Just needed 1 of those 3 chances to fall in the net, thatās what separates 2 dropped points to an otherwise unbelievable performance.
The 2nd 1 when we went through needed to go in. Love him to bits but he is the reason why we didnāt come away with the win today.
Jotaās, Salahās and Nunezā absences have only confirmed my fears that Diaz and Gakpo arenāt ready to take responsibility of scoring goals for this team. I donāt know if the new manager will change this (they genuinely have all the other traits) but I think that their next season might be their last at Liverpool if they donāt improve in that aspect. That said, our general finishing has genuinely been shit this year.
Apart from the finishing, Diaz gave a masterclass in running/carrying and making runs with the ball in the second half.
He also put a shift in the opposite end, where if Joe Gomez dives in, he would sprint back to cover for him.
Except Diaz has already showed his worth when all 3 have been out with 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 7 games in the league. + the goal against Arsenal in the FA cup.+ his goal at Fulham to see us into the EFL cup final, then his unbelievable performance in the final.
We canāt just snap our fingers for another Sadio to magically appear and take off where he left off.
Huge mistake to let Diaz go, Gakpo on the other hand I wouldnāt be that upset to see goā¦heās been poor for too long and never really puts himself about to balance out a poor performance.
Yeah, it was a very Lucho performance. Dazzling, indefatigable running coupled with sloppiness that undermined some of the good work.
I am of the mind that at our best it is not because we are clinical that makes us that that good, but because we scare the absolute living piss out of you and you dont know where the next volley is coming from. Diaz, even with those missed chances, is that feeling personified.
You picked the game he terrorized Cityās backline to claim that heās overrated? He can be frustrating in front of the goal and his end product often isnāt good enough but those were never his strong points.
Do we need to crap on someone.
Half of the chances he spurned he was instrumental in creating.
Yeah I donāt know Iāve ever seen someone give Walker the run around like that. When your lock down defender, as Walker normally is for them, is having such a hard time that has ripples all the way through the side and so Im sure was a significant part in the dynamic of the game that had City hanging on in such a defensive manner
