Prediction- our price for Diaz will be what we pay for Rodrygo. Who’s opening the thread?

Where does Chiesa fit into this chain.
Possibly going between the bench and physio room but there was a rumour of Atalanta being interested for 15m euros, Napoli being after Grealish or Chiesa along with the usual Italian suspects that want a loan.
Probably not going for what we pay for Rodrygo
Agree.
Realistically, I think the main linked deal will be Diaz out, Rodrygo in - probably on the same fees.
Nunez probably goes if the bid is right but I’d be worried him being sold could leave us short (even with Ekitike coming). Chiesa is gone regardless.
I still hope we can convince the lad to stay. If he goes and we have to bring in someone else, it will become waayyy too much transfer activity in one single window.
The Chiesa fee should cover about 60% of the Mateta fee with the fees for Elliot and Tsimikas being banked for next summer’s splurge.
Tbh there shouldn’t be a splurge next year. We have young/entering their prime players at GK, RB, LB, DM, LCM, RCM, CAM, LW, ST. If we have to splurge again that soon something has gone very wrong. Next season will be another CB, along with hopefully one this window, and RW for when VVD and Salah are nearing the end. Everything else for the next few windows should be back ups unless a genuinely world class talent appears available
Perhaps splurge was overdoing it, but we do need to keep some money in reserve for M’s and Virg’s replacements.
I do think we would have gone for Mbuemo had Mo left.
There are options available in the market. If not Mbuemo, maybe someone else.
It’s Virgil that’s more tougher to replace.
To be honest, the more I look at club’s transfer dealings this summer, their new contracts included, the more I’m thinking that club will keep the powder dry for the next two years while trying to identify their successors - which I’m completely fine with because this amount of spending is unprecedented for Liverpool.
Diaz is shaping up to be not just this summer’s biggest sale for Liverpool but also one of club’s biggest sales ever. Hopefully that turns out to be the case and that his replacement is a proper upgrade on him.
I won’t be bummed out overly on Diaz leaving. I hope he stays as I don’t want too many changes in the playing XI.
But that said. Diaz’s lack of end product did frustrate me quite a bit. There’s every chance he can improve but there’s more chances that a 22-23 year old winger can improve more and become better given time.
If we can replace Diaz with someone younger , it will be a win.
If Diaz stays for the length of his contract and produces his best years of football with us , it’s a win.
Either way , I’m good.
The point is that we are one of the top 5 clubs in the world. We are finally getting to the stage where we are acting like one.
Klopp took over at a time when we were still in flux. He left us in a very healthy position. We identified the need. We saw that other clubs possibly had overextended themselves (namely Arsenal) and City had gotten themselves into the rut (they still will get out of the 130 charges) but we’ve been the ones who have adapted the quickest.
By the time other clubs get rid of vastly overpaid players
We probably will get to 25 in league titles.
I don’t expect we will replace Salah, I think Slot is adapting the way we play so Wirtz/Dom may probably slot in there from next season there is also Frimpong in that role with Bradley a year older.
Central defence is the big one though I can see VVD seeing his career out here.
More noise from Sierra, the Colombian journo with ties to Diaz. Can safely assume Diaz’s stance is being accurately reported, and that he wants to get his last big footballing contract. Understandable tbh.
Dunno how accurate the contract renewal promise is, but that will be something he’s been told by Diaz/his family.
Whether or not his request is listened to will depend on if Bayern take the piss with their offer or come much closer to the value we actually want for him.
Nah, this is just made up bollocks.
Tbh, it feels more like Bayern are gonna low ball it again and hope Diaz will throw a wobbly
Probably so. I’m not sure Diaz is the type to throw a wobbly, but his dad/entourage very likely will. It’s the kind of shitshow drama we could do without, honestly, but we shouldn’t let Bayern try to take us to the cleaners, either.
I don’t think we’ll hold out for 100M Euro as reported, but I also don’t see us letting him go for less than 60M quid. Would prefer it to be resolved sooner rather than later.
I’ll echo your sentiment that he’s entitled to seek what is potentially his last big contract, particularly as all reports have pointed to us letting him run his current contract down here. He’d be 30 by then and unlikely to command the kind of wages he could command right now.
Do Bundesliga wages match Premier League one’s? If they do all good on the hypothesis of him seeking a last big contract? I concede duration is a factor in that.
