Love Diaz and his ability to move to the center and be productive this past season was a huge part of the title win.
That being said, I felt he was the one who moved to the middle because Slot preferred Gakpo to him on the left so with Ekitike and Wirtz coming into the side I think there is every chance Diaz would have been used as a X factor off the bench rather than first choice starter.
Thank you Luis Diaz. Did well for us, leaves as a Premier League Champion. I would class him as a very good player, but not so good that we would not do a deal like this.
I expected €80M so €75 isn’t too bad at all. Draw a line under it and reinvest.
What now? Guehi or another central defender seems a very clear need. Might not be completed until after the community shield. I would also buy Leoni, assuming the price is reasonable, and I would leave him in Italy, playing week in-week out for Parma for the season.
We could probably do with another winger now that Diaz is going. I’ve been talking about Fofana all summer so I’ll stick with him. Versatile. Fast. More improvement to come and won’t expect to play every week just yet. If he fulfills his potential here he could be in the conversation to replace Mo Salah down the line. Annoying our blue brethren from across the park is a nice little bonus too.
Isak is the big deal that we are waiting to see about. Will Newcastle price him out of a move? How high will we go?
Anyway, good luck Lucho, and thanks for the nice memories.
I know everyone is saying he wanted that last big deal and he wasn’t getting it here but I feel the same way.
Bayern are massive of course, but he’s still taken a step down. He’ll be playing in a much inferior league. He was at, in my opinion, one of the 4 ‘elite’ clubs in world football, winning trophies, the fans belted his song out at every game and yet it still isn’t enough.
I’d be interested to know what we were offering him, I always likened him to Suarez in terms of attitude and I reckon he’ll be a top player for the next 4/5 years.
Feel pretty down about it tbh.
As for Diaz, I want to thank him for his service; as he has been overall excellent for us. It’s a very good fee and he gets a good club; so hopefully amecable for everyone involved !
We should be willing to lose 30 mil at least to unload him. We bought him for silly money. We cannot possible expect to get 50mil+ for him and if we are trying to get such money for him, then we will not be able to sell. Who would be stupid enough to buy him for a super high sum ? I don’t think that club exists. Win some, lose some. Not every player you buy can be sold at profit and keeping him too long is surely detrimental in itself.
dear Bekloppt. A few of my posts, like the one above, should not be taken seriously
I have never expressed a liking for Bayern either But purely from a narrow sports perspective, it’s a good club. But so is Manchester City and Real Madrid. Neither are among teams I respect a lot
Maybe the kidnappers let him go because they also couldn’t stand him saying all there…“hey when I get out, I gonna get my son a move to Barcelona…you know Barcelona? Let me tell you all about Barcelona. It’s a great place Barcelona. You know why Barcelona? Yes it’s the best club in the world, this Barcelona…”
The market bears what it will. I think it’s a smart decision to hold back on Nunez. With the rate strikers are being taken off the market by us, it makes Nunez more valuable. He’s still the same guy we bought a few years ago and there’s value in that.
No and no. Typical Bayern playing poor man. And he goes to the German equivalent of Real. Absolutely hate that club. What’s worse, the chase for Diaz was only as retribution for Wirtz. I’m glad we are now getting Isak so we can flick them the bird.
Ha! I pray that if we meet them in the CL, our fans boo the crap out of him.
This isn’t him chasing his dream of Barca. If it had been Barca I’d be like ‘fuck him, but ok’. But Bayern? It’s fucking random. Its him desperately trying to get away from our club. And after our support for him?
Fuck off and I hope your career rots like most Ex LFC players that go to Bayern.
I’d be happy to cheer Diaz if we face him in the future. He won the league with us, scored some great goals, and gave us some wonderful memories.
He moved to maximize his earnings. I don’t know the terms, but presumably Bayern have offered 4 years on better terms than we offered him.
It’s his job. I’ve no doubt he loved his time here, and I doubt there is any hard feeling with anyone at Liverpool. But Colombia is his home and he has come to Europe to play, and to earn money. He is going to the biggest and best club in Germany, has every chance of winning the league there, and the money he will earn will suit his career objective after escaping poverty.
Good luck to him. We got a fair fee (arguably could have been slightly higher, but not much) and we will reinvest it into the side.
Maybe, but I think his value will only go down and we will continue to pay what is considerable wages for for him. I don’t think I am alone in having identified him as a player we should be willing to unload with for less than half of the massive money we bought him for.
On most other players, we run a healthy profit in sales, so we should be able to afford selling him for 30 mil sterling or so. I will be completely flabbergasted if someone pays 40-50 in a year or so for him (unless he suddenly becomes “another person” and improves his scoring rate by 10%).
