If it’s pre-tax, then he will be getting 45K net and that would be around what Shaqiri (rumored) was getting.
Quite a bit higher than me. I might get a sore back if this carries on.
I thought the salary for first team regulars was now £100k+. Either way I think £90k sounds in the region I have heard for others so I don’t think is too high.
Puts him in line with Jota but then Jota’s about to get a new deal.
Is he ours yet…
Hadn’t heard that about Jota. He deserves a new deal for sure.
This one ain’t falling over.
Karius
Good,he’ll go far,my favorite ,and lucky number.
Reaching the stage where someone’s gonna have to open the welcome to Liverpool thread
I wish this young man all the best at our beautiful club. I cannot imagine how he must be feeling at the moment to think about his own life’s journey and where he is now.
Since the rumor broke I been watching through all the footage and videos I can possibly find of the player. The good and bad. I have no real conclusion other than to say he’s clearly talented. Not sure how that translates to England but certainly talented player.
I maintain what I originally wrote in this thread when it was just a few of us here posting in the early hours of the morning when it looked likely this was real, I am still quite surprised by this signing. It’s a large and respectable sum of money. This was no bargain, this was not a ‘good deal’ on a statistical outlier. This is a premium transfer fee paid for a player JK and Liverpool clearly wanted.
I have no idea - literally, no idea at all what to expect - from the player in a Liverpool shirt. I am excited to watch him play but I have no expectations and certainly no predetermined and arbitrary targets. I’m fascinated to see how The Boss intends to integrate and deploy him.
Knowing the LFC track record over the past few seasons I’m fairly certain he’ll be very good. Robertson, Matip and Jota were all fairly underwhelming names, but they’re all excellent. Jota in particular is one that’s been sourced using data and Edwards. Laughed at with the fee paid, look how he’s doing. Matip was one of Klopp’s. Personally I was thrilled with Jota’s incoming when others were skeptical. I’ve little knowledge of Diaz except what’s been shared on the site over the past day, he’s definitely another under the radar signing.
A couple things…since you replied directly to my post I want to make the distinction now and in a timely fashion….
You used the word “underwhelming” and you used the phrases, “laughed at with the fee paid” and “I’m fairly certain he’ll be very good”. Not sure where you are going that.
Also, I don’t remember anyone laughing at the fee paid for Jota. That was a fun and exciting thread and I think everyone was thrilled with the fee.
All of that said, in no place in my post did I use such words or phrases. You took a (very strange) negative slant to my post and I’m not quite sure why. My post is quite positive and very hopeful. It was concluded in a way that illuminates my rationale that supporters shouldn’t put any pressure on him. The arbitrary goal targets and where/how he fits into the formation.
I’m not sure a £60m signing of a player from a team that regularly plays in the Champions League can be called “under the radar”.
Sorry, wasn’t specific to anything you’d previously posted, just generalized points. And I just replied…
Wolves were laughing at the fee. Perceived to be underwhelming at the time of… in terms of both Jota and Robertson coming from Hull and not a known entity at the time.
Not to be diagnosed, just generally concurring with most other posts, kind of left field, kind of unexpected, under the radar type of sentiment.
Did you know about it? Was it known we were in for him. I’d resigned myself to another transfer window of no-one new. Coming out of nowhere, vs magnitude of fee paid, quite different points in my mind.
And just an additional point. LFC’s dealings have gone like this, so for the past fair few transfer windows its been frigging crickets. Its good for the club, but makes for tedious forums.
That’s not what the phrase means mate. It means no noise or sign of it happening till its pretty much been completed.
Haha @Prolix. You’ve been done there mate.
I feel the same way as you. I literally have no idea what to expect.
I knew he was on the radar, but know very little about him.
I’m a bit nervous because of all the hype that seems to have popped up in anticipation of his signing. I’m somewhat surprised by it because he has flown under the radar to some degree.
I just hope he lives up to expectations when he does sign.
