How else are they going to emulate their neighbors of being perennial corner turners?
@Notasuperfan says hello, and that we dont have their academyâŚbut fsg barely buy players anywayđ¤Ł
Iâm disappointed that Eintracht Frankfurt didnât extract a higher priceâŚ
Their second highest sale ever, behind Kolo Muani.
Yes, but itâs moneybags on the other side.
Then again I suppose itâs not the idiots on the other side of Manchester.
Surprised to see Walker out in January, I hadnât followed closely but I assumed the âwants outâ was at the end of the season.
Maybe he has high moral standards?
Ok, he hasnâtâŚ
But his lower threshold might be breached by the findings of the charges on the way.
I think if he was troubled by that kind of thing, it would happened a long time ago. I can only assume he has had a complete breakdown of relationship with Guardiola once Guardiola signed that extension. He was probably holding it together assuming Pep would be leaving.
To be honest, my comment was tongue in cheek.
He has zero morals
Yeah, I understood that, but my comment was getting at the fact that the charges have been around for most of his time at City and he has happily renewed despite uncertainty. Something changed
Coming to my theory of Pep collecting fullback trophies, I can only assume that Walker could see the writing on the wall,⌠literally.
City got to be fairly keen to get rid of theyâve taken an Italian clubs promise of borrowing him for a bit and then buying him later if heâs any good for them.
The salaries that man city offer. Clubs donât have the option to push for higher price.
Part of it might also have to do with the additional wages assuming he gets taken to the cleaners by his wife. Eventually. Beats me as to why his wife would want to stick on with a cheating scumbag like him.
It strikes me as an old school outcome for an old stalwart from the pre-window days when a team doesnt realize until a few weeks into the season that the old guy just doesnt have it anymore and ends up slinking away to a wolves or preston in September or October
Oops, I posted this in the wrong Manchester thread, thanks Limie.
My take is they were trying to keep their powder dry in preparation for a big punishment, and so banked heavily on being able to get through this period of uncertainty with the established players being able to keep it going. While Pep has allowed players like Cancelo to leave when unhappy it is notable that both Silva and Walker have had whispers of wanting to move for several windows in a row now but having that blocked. I think they have found themselves in a situation where they realize that bet has not come off and need to retool, and while the collective transfers fees paid were considerable the profile of the players means the overall financial commitment to them isnt big.
How the Halaand extension ties into that I have no idea.
I suppose some types will be able to be loaned out. Perhaps this is the uncertainty in this. However as I said last week its a PL investigation which means they canât relegate them any further than the Championship anyhow so they could bar them from PL participation for a set period (How that would work is I assume in a similar way to how the football league used to bar Conference clubs), strip titles, fine and other restrictions such as registering players.
I doubt they would bar them for more than 3 years for the football league accounting period to effectively trap them, its why certain clubs spend a lot of money in January of their third year and its also why I felt if Everton went down theyâd probably would have got stuck down there. Of course walkers wages would be a big amount off their balance sheet.
