Flip side of Quansah potentially leaving, Joyce says we’re after Guehi
Oh lordy, I ain’t moving the Guehi posts again, they can stay in the Quansah thread
But appreciated if people can shift that discussion over here now.
I notice how quickly @SixpenceNun and @ZinedineBiscan came on board to preempt Nikola.
I’m just running to keep up lol
You have my sincere appreciation.
I do think Guehi will be a smokescreen though. The amount that Palace will demand for him will be way too high.
But what do I know , I said the same about Wirtz.
He is entering the last year of his deal though, which will reduce his fee.
I’m a bit meh on it, I think he’s decent but those aerial stats worry me.
I think he’ll be alright with being an understudy to Virgil. But he doesn’t enthuse me much.
We should be looking at someone better.
I don’t think he can do the Konate role.
I think Guehi will be viewed as a decent back-up alongside Gomez (if he stays), someone who can bridge the gap when either VVD or Konate drop out. Depending on the fee we get from Quansah, it could be seen as basically Guehi and Quansah cancelling each other out in the club’s eyes in terms of fees.
Stats for past two seasons as if it were just this season Quansah’s game time would be near enough non existent. Given that he’s been playing for Palace I would say that Guehi’s stats really aren’t bad
If the amount for Guehi is comparable to the amount we pay for Quansah. I guess it’s okay.
Still probably means we need one more CB , even if not now , in the Jan window
I’m not at all certain that we can get through the season relying on Gomez again.
He has other decent attributes however that might suit Slot style football.
Sami Mokbel now reporting the same, if the asking price is reasonable we’ll go for him this season if not we’ll try get him on a free next season
Reckon he’ll do his unveiling interview in perfect scouse and just have Marc on his shirt?
It one of those that I dont get at all. He is a perfectly fine player, but that’s it. That’s his ceiling - a capable PL player on the fringes of the England side. That is fine. If he was already here he’d probably be thought of as steady enough but unlikely to hold down a spot. If he was 30 and out of contract and we wanted a cheap extra body you could see it. Making him enough of a priority to pursue as a signing…I just dont see it.
Meanwhile, the player Palace are apparently trying to get in to replace him, Diomande, seems like exactly the sort of player we should be recruiting instead.
