21 and 7.
We don’t do release clauses.
Not the point this is what was said Trent should have done so its applies to Konate.
I loathe RM.
Players wanting to maximise their earnings by leaving on a free isn’t new.
Trent’s been immense for us and so has ibou. They left(or will leave) on a free.
And so might Guehi too in order to come for us.
There isn’t one. Certainly not one that anyone would actually pay.

Why Is Guehi Still at Palace?
#LFC have wanted Marc Guehi all summer. #CPFC have known that all summer. So why isn’t he wearing red yet?
It’s not the player as some reports claim. He’s ready. No fresh contract, no talk of staying long-term. He’s made himself available without making a scene. He’s done everything right. The delay lies elsewhere.
Palace know what they’ve got: a premium English centre-back, age-profiled, homegrown and durable. They also know Liverpool aren’t the only ones looking. Spurs tried in January. Newcastle hovered. England pick him. The market warmed itself up nicely for Steve Parish.
So Palace waited. Not out of stubbornness, but strategy. They let the clock tick because leverage only grows when windows shrink. That’s why there’s noise now, with 3 weeks to go and Parish suddenly talking about “not losing players for free”. The door’s open, just wide enough to make you reach in.
Liverpool, for their part, have waited too. They’ve held back because they believe no one else will outbid them. Because Guehi wants to join the Champions. And because the market is skewed. £35m today might be £55m next summer, even for a player with a year left on a contract. He’ll cost less now than he’s worth. But only if no one panics first.
This is a transfer in slow motion, not collapse. It’s about who blinks first. Palace waiting for a bidding war that may not come. Liverpool gambling that it won’t.
At some point, one side will realise the other isn’t bluffing.
And when that happens, Guehi leans at the Axa.
I get the idea of rating your own evaluation and not wanting to follow the crowd, but does it not give some pause that our strategy is based on an expectation there wont be any other interest in him despite his age, nationality and contract situation being big positives?
No, because Newcastle and Spurs, at the very least, would like him, but he’s only got eyes for LFC.
As we hear, there’s a discrepancy of 5 million. We had the same thing with Wirtz… I hope they come to an agreement sooner rather than later, because I’m also afraid that another club might express interest out of the blue. That would be really unfortunate for us, but Palace seems to be waiting for exactly that.
But there is only so far that can go if the club he wants is not offering enough.
I guess the related stand off is between Guehi and Palace over how much of a loss they are willing to accept for a player they have already mitigated the loss of and is making it clear he wont listen to other offers.
There was also that rumour about Chelsea, straight after Colwill’s serious injury, that then died again almost as quickly a day or two later. Almost like they’d made an enquiry and been rebuffed… ![]()
Or Palace friendly journalists pushed it to generate an increase in interest from us.
It’s extremely unlikely that anything claimed by a journalist would change anything already known to people within the club.
Palace potentially playing with fire. An injury, and not even a serious injury, would likely see us pull the plug and come back to it in January/next summer.
They want 40M now, and we want to pay 35M? That’s very close and if we negotiate on Monday I’m sure we can achieve a breakthrough. But if he gets injured, it will be 15-20M in January, and nothing next summer.
On the other hand, they have already made moves to replace him and have faced up to the prospect of losing him for free next year. There is maybe a sense that every game they get out of him is a free hit.
Be interested if he plays or is on the bench, assume we will step up our plans this week.
