Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

‘Wants a replacement before sanctioning the move’ has become the bane of this transfer window.

How about do some forward planning lads.

I’d still expect they have a better chance than Newcastle.

Is that why we’re short on CBs?

It’s why when there was some talk of selling Konate I said no, if at the end of the window you have enough in to cover first then fine but we probably needed one at the start, we let one go and have one in.

Dont think ive ever heard the words “get a replacement in first” as much as ive heard it this summer…

Youd think palace having an england CB entering his final year would’ve sorted his replacement by now.

We have 4 CB at the moment. Guehi will make 5.

Rightly so.

Erm but we didn’t when we sold Quansah, erm we have sold Diaz with out a replacement Jota and Nunez have been replaced by one. So all the talk of getting in replacement first isn’t a reality for Liverpool.

It’s also a mental thing for clubs to be saying.

Palace go buy a replacement and then what, we’re obligated to make them an offer for Guehi? Can they carry an additional CB if we decide we don’t want him now and no one else comes in? Maybe we’ll chuck a low-ball offer in because now we know they pretty much have to sell as they’ve publicly said this new lad is his replacement.

Truth is football transfers are rarely related in this linear way of player X arrives allowing Y to leave. Yes, clubs don’t want to be left short, especially this late in the window, but not every club is as shit at this stuff as Newcastle are.

Im not sure we have left ourselves terribly thin upfront.

Let’s see at the end of the window.

We had a great start, no doubt about it.
Then we sold some players for good money. In all likelihood there will be a bit more of that.

How will the window end? If no more signings, fine, have a little pop as we do look short.

I suspect we will sign at least 2 more players, and quite possibly three. Let’s see.

I truly do hope thats correct but appears the Isak deal has thrown a spanner in the works and we are reacting at a snails pace.

You literally don’t know what the club is doing.

Neither do you.

No I don’t do I but I’m not making assumptions they are not doing something because they haven’t emailed out a project plan with all the tasks.

They signed Leoni within a week and all we had was Joyce mention him in passing.
