Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

I mean in the transfer world… they aren’t just wandering around award evenings and heading for a coffee.

We have for several years simply not done business in public. The guy who was at the forefront of that was Edwards and now he is back in a higher position.

We will get one or two rumours fed to the reliables like Joyce and Ormstein and when those two break things it’s usually a lot further down the line. No one at this club is feeding a minute by minute update like other clubs do and guess what generally it works well.

Yes stuff will leak from the player or the other side but it’s why a Newcastle soap opera can appear exciting and the club effectively looks stagnant.

this is another one dragging on.

At least we have Leoni now. I’d still like Guehi as well to really strengthen the depth in the position and give some competition for a starting spot but some of the urgency has been taken off the deal.

Yea the club certainly took their own sweet time closing deals for Frimpong, Kerkez, Wirtz and Ekitike. And now the club is incompetent all over again.

FSG out!

Sure, but that is clearly by design. We were told early in the summer we were prepared to wait on this move and so we’ve clearly got a hand we’re still content to play. I think we need to be clear eyed in the difference between this sort of situation and something like Newcastle’s search for a forward.

I do wonder if this has the European qualification thing in the back ground. It makes far more sense than playing in the community shield as a hurdle that had to be reached.

Hopefully a big win tonight and we can start discussions to finalise it.

Yes mate but we’ve asked him to bundle Wharton into the boot of his car but unfortunately he brought his Ferrari to training.

I think it would have happened by now.

But if brinkmanship going on.

Also probably linked to Konate’s future. If we are going to lose him for free, and there is nothing we can do it probably makes financial sense to leave him at Palace and take him next season for nothing.

Guehi for free would have more suitors than just us.

Yeah, if he is available now for a reasonable fee and our preferred signing i think it better to do it this summer. Gives us options and allows him to bed in. One less change next year.

I think we’ll see progress after their conference league opener.

Weirdly with the stories of Eze being pulled out of action to protect him for the arsenal move this has me more interested in this game than I imagined Id be

It appears we want to play chicken with Palace over the risk of losing him for free. Its a stupid game to play Virgil gets an injury between now and 1st the desperation becomes worse.
