Medicals don’t actually have to be finished in order for the transfer to go through, as long as the initial paperwork is submitted to the FA then they allow the rest of the deal to be completed after the deadline.
That’s why you see things like a deal being confirmed the morning after the deadline closed in previous years.

The real issue at Palace isn’t so much Igor signing, but the behind the scenes battle between Glasner and Parish. Any manager would want to keep his best player. And any owner at that level would want a transfer fee now to help financial stability, especially if the player is off for free next summer.
Even if Glasner temporarily gets his way, there is no loyalty in football. His star is rising, and he will move to a bigger club than Palace, regardless. I’m sure Parish knows that and will do what is best for Palace.
