You raise a valid point. For Parish, the key concern is whether Crystal Palace can afford to let their best player walk away for free next season. As you rightly mentioned, Glasner is likely destined for bigger things in the near future—perhaps even as early as next season. That means Palace could find themselves losing both Glasner and Marc next year, without the benefit of a £35 million reinvestment.
At the heart of the disagreement lies a fundamental divergence in perspective: Parish is focused on the club’s long-term financial health and sustainability, while Glasner appears to be operating with a much shorter-term outlook—perhaps not seeing beyond the current campaign…
and the weird thing about all this is, if Man United came in for Glasner in a few weeks after they fire amorim, I have very little doubt that he would be on the first flight to manchester and would not spare a thought for Marc who he will have left behind.
Outside of edge cases, a lot of will be able to be done these days with the Dr remote. And in those edge cases we’d probably be hiring in an specialist rather than having the team Dr to do those assessments and then have the specialist consult with the internal guy afterwards over the findings.
That’s interesting. I dont think he’s great, but he has a lot of caps for France and so there must be something there. With everyone scrambling for a forward this summer Ive been surprised by how absent from those conversations he has been.
Glasner might even walk if Leverkusen made an offer to him. Palace is a step in his journey. Parish needs to look at the long term health of the club.
Glasner is probably looking for an excuse to walk right about now. If he’s made up his mind to walk , then there’s nothing Parish can do. Even if it means keeping Guehi for one more year.
