Marc Guehi (CB) Crystal Palace

It’s the reason why we should sign Guehi in January, as it looks increasingly likely that Konate won’t sign another contract.

Not sure why people are disappointed at Palace for not letting Guechi join us,

Its not like Palace owe us any favours,

We did sell them Benteke and Sakho for huge sums of money after all

Funny how when VVD, Salah, and TAA were all on the last years of their contracts journalists were calling it incompetence for risking losing them on a free. Yet we retained who we could and got one last memorable season out of the other, and all that without holding them hostage.

We’ve historically been good at letting players go if they want to leave. Probably of the reasons we were able to attract some top players even when we were struggling. Why would any prospect choose to join Newcastle or Palace now when after this summer’s shenanigans?

You wouldn’t expect the chairman to.

But for an established Premier League club’s entire scouting network to have not had a number of potential defenders within their knowledge bank is something that Palace fans should be concerned about.

As I said above, their well respected DoF left his position in the spring and they have not yet replaced him. What that eliminated was not the scouting and analysis, but the expertise to know what to do with it and operationalize it into an actual plan of action. In the end Parish was just left looking at a bunch of Opta Radar charts like

Let’s keep it on topic please.

So Jan or free he gets to decide. If he wants us he comes. If his head is turned by RM etc then bye bye Marc.

It should only ever be Liverpool.

It’s his choice. I hope we get him, but his behaviour has been exemplary. It’s up to him what his next move is.

Everything is open, now. All it takes is one top team suffering a spate of injuries to their back line and deciding to table a significant offer for Guehi in January.

Few rumours been pushed now that he was having second thoughts about the move before Palace pulled the plug.

I don’t believe that for one second.

That would help him rebuild his relationship with CP, but otherwise seems unlikely. It doesn’t fit with what we’ve learned about his character and behaviour.

I don’t believe those rumors for one second.

Exactly, stop stirring the shit @RER

To be honest it’s about as reliable as that one about Wirtz

If he still wants us, and we still want him, it will be done.

If it breaks down on either side, we will move on. He is a good player and probably better than most reds think. But if he goes elsewhere, we will be quick to see a short arse who potentially makes us vulnerable to aerial bombardment.

Our recruitment is so good that I’m chilled about the whole thing.

If he comes, great!
If he doesn’t, I can’t wait to see what we do.
