Mo... blah blah blah... talk about it here

I can’t wait until they shut their bloody window.

Could have considered that bid ~250M had it come earlier in the window. Not now.

They already have. Because of the time difference, it’s already Friday there. We’re in the clear, lads.

One day closer to the opening of the winter window

I just wouldn’t sell him, I think we’ve got a potentially good season ahead of us.

Knock on affect and the fact they will probably come for others. Need to say no, come back in June and we may talk if the price is right.

Usually agree with you cynical but not on this. I don’t even think it helps us that much premium wise we need a season to plan and make sure the players we want want to come.

Anyhow I thought it closed on the 7th not the 6th so we still have less than 24 hours.

Oh it’s 10pm tomorrow British Standard time.

The point here is that the short term effects of selling him now may be no CL again, what is the cost of that?Top 4 is likely still doable, but harder. Why would you do that for money…nothing else.
We all expect him to go next summer and we have time to plan around that!
Our window is shut so we can’t do anything about it till January, when the world and its dog will know what we want and prices will skyrocket.

We will be losing Mo in January/February for AFCON anyway so we have a perfect time to plan for post-Mo whether that bringing someone in or using what we have.

So, who are the realistic replacements?

Long term I’d see Doak being able to operate in that position but he only turns 18 this November.

Apparently, Ousmane Dembele is unhappy with his move to PSG although even with a big chunk of Mo money we’d be stretched for that.

TBH, I don’t think you can directly replace Salah. It’s a case of modifying our play and tactics to suit what we do have. We will probably discover that early next year. Remember: the last time he was away (with Sadio as well) we actually coped OK.

It doesn’t have to be a copy of Mo, that’s impossible, but we will need someone to play on the right side of the attack.
Doak will be great in two or three years, but not yet. Our other attackers are all more effective coming from the left. I wouldn’t want to disrupt what seems to be a potentially excellent midfield by moving the Bosz.
Jürgen seems to prefer a left footer on the right.

Key thing is not to try to replace him. English cricket beat itself up for years after Botham (and later Flintoff) left. Both fabulous players but you have to work with what you have, not with what you had. I know next to nothing about other team’s players apart from the last match we played. But I’d imagine there are plenty of players who can play a very meaningful role if the tactics are adjusted appropriately.

I think I’ve made it clear that I’m not talking about Mo number two, but short of playing with ten men, or leaving a huge gap on the right wing, we need a player who can provide attacking impetus, assists and goals on the right.
Who are the candidates?

As has been said numerous times here, great players come and go and we have always coped.

When the likes of Gerrard, Suarez, Torres, Alonso left we probably all thought the worst, but look where we are now in comparison to those minimal trophy teams.

Now thats the dramtic over with, i don’t want to see him go, he makes this team tick at times and has saved us too many times to mention.

So fuck SA, he’s oura and you can’t have him…

Not until 2025 anyway

Good left footed right wingers are about as rare as rocking horse shit so if we want that style of player it’s going to be expensive. What I can’t see is us getting someone who we see as the equivalent of Salah today. I think we’ll be looking for the equivalent of the Salah we bought six years ago. Someone on the cusp of taking that next step rather than a ready made star.

It’s a shame Moussa Diaby didn’t stay at Leverkusen for another season as I think he’s about as good an option as there is out there. Michael Olise is another to keep an eye on this season. And perhaps Adeyemi from Dortmund would be on the list too but he didn’t seem to have a great first season at Dortmund.

But I’d expect we’d see a bit of a shift with goals and attacking threat shared round more evenly across the front three rather than trying to bring in a mega star to replace Salah from day one.

Diaby and Olise are good shouts.

It is just me who falls asleep if anyone mentions Mbappe or Dembele?

Both immature, petulant, primmadonna kids. No thanks. Very boring.

Neither of them will be here for a myriad of reasons, not least their attitudes and their wages. Waste of time even discussing them.

I just ignore it as they aren’t going arrive and I’m not sure they would be the benefit most suggest.

Sure Mbappe is a great player but is he great enough to endanger what’s going on with us?

Dembele has had too many injuries for Liverpool to take a punt.

We aren’t competitive enough (w.r.t salary Structure) as well as the English tax issues to attract guys like Mbappe. As a club and project, yes. Most people would definitely want to play for Klopp.

But Liverpool won’t offer the salary that city , Chelsea offer let alone the salaries Barca, real offer. Thats fine by me. Makes winning over those oil cunts all the more sweeter.

Given that it’s been so quiet today and we only have a little over 8 hours left, becoming increasingly likely we’ll win the league this year.
