You’re in charge. He want’s £500k a week on another 4 years. What would you do?
Nope, he does look after himself but sharpness and speed are a must in his position and already seems to lost some pace and doesn’t go past his player as much as he did.2
Although he has still great timing with his runs in behind
If he is still putting up elite numbers and helping us win stuff I would offer him £400k a week and a 2 year extension
I’d do similar. But he wants £500k or he’s on strike in January.
Is he?
All invention though.
We don’t know what he would do if we rejected any moves in January or offered him a new contract.
I have a feeling we would be open to a move in the summer and would have that Dialogue with Salah. The guy has always been painted as a bit disloyal or selfish and yet here we are he is still here when all the more loyal names have gone.
Was in the land of hypotheticals. BTW, you’re not accepting messages. If that’s intentional, cool and groovy.
Clearly this is an option that the club will look at. He is contracted until 2025. If we were to extend you would expect that to happen next summer and his salary to be at or less than his current depending on the length of contract.
Obviously the Saudi interest affects the renumeration but no-one appears to know what the player actually wants. I get the impression that money is not his only motivation. As his athleticism inevitability declines, getting a decent last paycheck may appear more of a priority.
Sky Sports trying to squeeze every last drop from it really. The opening para made me laugh
Liverpool were braced for a world-record bid for Mohamed Salah on Thursday but the club and their supporters could breathe a sigh of relief when an improved offer from Al Ittihad failed to materialise before the Saudi Pro League transfer window closed.
I don’t think Liverpool were braced - I suspect that the club were super relaxed knowing fine well any bid would have been laughed at. As a fan, I didn’t breathe a sigh of relief as I wasn’t concerned he was leaving. But SSN make it sound like it’s been a very dramatic and tension filled few days between the transfer window closing and last nights Saudi deadline. Reality is there’s prob been zero emails exchanged between the clubs in those few days.
Sky could put in an improved bid themselves with the amount of ad revenue they’ve milked from this so-called transfer saga.
But why?
Mo’s agent in the summer said he wasn’t going this summer - their plan was always to consider whether a move was suitable from next summer onwards.
The club said he wasn’t going - and given he is a key player, we have seen the difficulties we have had in the market this summer trying to bring in someone even with plenty of time, trying to replace him once the season had started within a few days of the transfer window closing was always unlikely.
Furthermore, despite how FSG are often characterised, they rarely sell based on money being offered alone, and we saw with Coutinho, the club were willing to keep him despite all the crap he pulled to force a move.
Yeah both Sky Sports and the BBC have headlines and articles implying that Liverpool fans were besides themselves with panic over the last week or so but, not spending much time on either website, I’ve barely even thought about it.
The club said he wasn’t for sale, they instantly rejected a bid and I had no faith that the Saudis could/would front a significantly bigger bid. To top it all Salah jas said and done absolutely nothing to imply that he is trying force a move through.
I think pretty much everyone except for Sky Sports is chilled about the entire affair.
Yup I found that image on BBC Sport a bit crazy.
Only people who wanted to sell him seemed to be some on here (rebuild the Kop ) and Sky and BBC.
can close this thread now ? I think it can be reopened at the January window when the talks again suffice.
I didn’t realise how much Sky hated liverpool until this Get Salah to Saudi campaign, but their bitterness still continues as they suggest they will start again in January.
I praise Klopp for laughing at their pre and post game reporters asking only about Mo ad nauseum
Was that statement before the Saudis decided to recalibrate the value of every player in the world by adding a zero to their cost and salary?
Regardless, has anyone spoken to Mo about this? He’s going to have to make a decision about his future next summer and that has always been the case. I’ve seen no indication that he has even considered any move now.
Great. Now we’re talking about how something the club said wouldn’t happen and didn’t happen maybe almost did happen.
We’ve got a league title to win. Mo will help us do that. All is well!
Next summer? Let’s see.
Onwards and upwards.
He’s smart enough to keep himself to himself and his mouth shut. Oh Jordan, take a leaf mate.
