Yeah, but you know, Harvey could do it…
Owen would be there and thereabouts as well. Fuck the prick , but he was magical at Liverpool
Suarez in terms of talent. Best player I’ve seen wearing a Liverpool jersey
It was said they wanted him for a showpiece in December .I have no doubt that if we told them that they can buy him at that time, their window would reopen in December just for that deal.
I would also include Torres and Owen there. Torres and Gerrard were magical together. Rafa would have won the league had he not rested Torres for 3-4 games and Keane couldnt hit a barn door - his stats if i am not wrong was 1 or 2 goals in 15 games. Torres single handedly was cruising ahead and was unstoppable at times. I have no doubt that had he stayed when Suarez was signed we would have easily won 2-3 titles more.
But ours wont right? Can we sell anytime of the year - just asking? So window is limited only for incomings and not outgoings?
He’s as good as gone.
If the club have any nous about them, they’ll insist he stays until 1st January, meantime we get his replacement lined up for the January window.
Not Torres in his prime?
I was also thinking about things like longevity, consistency and so on. If Torres and Suarez had stayed longer they might have achieved more, but I stand by my top three.
By the way, this is a thread I’m happy to derail
I don’t think the clubs position has changed.
They can quote whatever numbers they want the question is have they actually submitted a proper deal like that.
Wouldn’t believe them.
This season could be a big one if he stays if he doesn’t we have to adapt again in a crucial period of games our fan base seems obsessed with money but it does us no favours not until next summer.
The club won’t sell from under Klopp
Why, just because they’re throwing around ludicrous amounts of money?
My opinion.
Hope I’m wrong.
Have they actually made a proper offer or is this like those offers for Henderson and Fabinho that were talked about but seemingly took an age to actually materialise and than an eternity for the moves to actually happen?
If the speed of those transfers was anything to go by and, given the comparatively small sums involved, do we really think they could pony up £200m in a couple of days for this to even merit a discussion?
They made a 100m + 50 m in add ons last Thursday apparently which Liverpool rejected and said the matter was at a close.
I assume the club said put your best offer in before the window they did that and we said nah bye now.
Since then it’s all being fed mostly through one or two sources which haven’t yet materialised into anything concrete. The club seem very firm and very open of what has been said in the last week and I have no reason to doubt what Klopp and Dom said was true.
The club may well sell, Klopp may we’ll agree to sell. Salah may well force a move but I have my doubts any of that will happen. If they had chased him all summer all this talk may have made sense.
They decided between the 8th of August and the 30th of August to move for him this “dream signing” doesn’t sound like one especially as it’s less than they were willing in wages to pay for Mbappe.
As I said telling Liverpool that the other Saudi clubs will be in for him next summer is hardly going accept a deal for a player we can’t replace for 3 months and all the other solutions come with risk.
At the moment our side is purring and look set for a fruitful season. There is no guarantees a change would damage that or that it won’t go south but the best chance is for us to continue as we are.
Not Torres in his prime?
Loved Torres, and Mané. Happily make space for both!
My major concern about a Mo sale is how does it affect Jurgen’s thinking about managing Liverpool.
to keep him beyond the end of his current contract
This, for me. I see a version of older Mo that can still be a highly effective creator.
I fully admit to a significant dose of sentimentality here as well.
Have they actually made a proper offer or is this like those offers for Henderson and Fabinho that were talked about but seemingly took an age to actually materialise and than an eternity for the moves to actually happen?
At least based on what has been reported, Gordon allegedly took the call directly and, again allegedly, told them unequivocally the details of the offer were irrelevant as Mo was not going anywhere this summer
I think it suits the Saudis for everyone to be talking about spending silly money on footballers rather than dumping journalists in acid baths.
I assume the club said put your best offer in before the window they did that and we said nah bye now.
Why would we have said that?
