Mohamed SALAH: 2020/21

5 penalties in 13 goals will boost your converston rate substantially.

Excluding pens he’s at 17%

Last season he was at 14.3% or 12.4% exc pens.

Which is how I understood it.

What Salah is worldclass at is getting into position to take high % Chance shots a lot per game… This has gone down this season so he is still missing the same amount of shots, but taking a lot less.

Is that all comps? Squawka gave me 20% for the league (inc pens).

Just the league.

How weird. Have I fucked up or have you?! :joy: Are you also using squawka?

Using the Premier League website, they list a few stats on there.

Salah scored 16 (exc pens) from 129 shots. Mane for comparison scored 18 from 77.

The year before they both scored 22 but Mane did so in 40 odd fewer shots and that includes 3 pens for Salah.

Backs up the eye test that Mane’s more clinical and Salah takes an awful lot of shots!

I was also looking at those

Why the big difference with those other sites? By the bbc stats he seems like all the other strikers.

Different people doing the counting.

A lot of football statistics are as subjective as they are objective. Different sites likely have different definitions as to what constitutes a shot, whether a blocked shot counts etc.

He can’t take a penalty, we had that discussion above.

Does a body appreciate the lad on here, seriously?

I maintain the problem I have with Mo on penalties is entirely mine, and nothing to do with him. :joy:

I have always stated that he is the worst best penalty taker ever. It’s either a perfect hit that can’t be saved at all, or a well stuck too close to the keeper shot, that isn’t saved. I am much calmer when Milner takes them.

True. I have butterflies when Salah takes penalties. Though he haven’t missed any, yet.

He has, I remember him putting one over the bar into the Anfield Road end a couple of seasons back.

That was Mahrez.

Salah had one saved at that end though

Holy shit…

That if true is just utterly insane and nothing but bias led by the English media influencing refs.

Just goes to show that a narrative can actually have a definitive affect on the pitch. What a shit show.
