Mohamed SALAH: 2020/21

Wonder whether the same names saying he shouldn’t need the attention will be the same calling him names if and when he does leave for it?

If he leaves for more attention then i’d criticise him more,he’s a footballer not a fashion model.

With those abs, he could easily be the latter.

You really think fame, standing in the game, awards, recognition and reputation really don’t matter to professional athletes? At the very least it has a huge impact on the money they make from endorsement deals. Then it’s how they’re remembered after retiring.

I also think it’s easier to like certain players,Mane and Kante have an infectious personality but also a aggressive streak that people love seeing,it’s a preference to a type of footballer imo.

Nobody is saying you can only talk up Mane or Salah. Why can’t it be both?

You’ve made a narrative that Salah isn’t appreciated based on what you think Salah thinks, tbh i think you’re exaggerating quite a bit.

You wish that people understand your points so try to understand others.
Who doesn’t recognise Salah FFS?

Only matters to them if they are selfish. Otherwise it comes as a great surprise and they award it to the team.

FFS are you serious?

I’m not too sure that Salah’s ego is that big tbh, kind, humble and just wants to do good in all parts of his life, having a favourite player does not mean you dislike or don’t appreciate the rest of the team.

As far as I’m concerned, anyone who isn’t Robbo can go fuck themselves.

We do it is your perception that we dont because we can and are critical when people make mistakes/wrong decisions

He’s called selfish that isn’t my perception. I’ve argued till I’m blue in the face that he can’t be selfish if he is the attacker in the league most likely to make a chance or assist for someone else. Either everybody else is just so crap at creating he accidentally out supplies them whilst trying to be selfish. Or every attacker in the league is more selfish than him making him the least selfish of a selfish bunch. It’s not used in a complimentary way though it’s used as a tarnish against him and I don’t like it. A reason why he shouldn’t be getting the appreciation he should. And as much as people say they’ve got to the decision on their own I don’t understand how they can when every game they watch and report they read seems to mention it. It’s classic conditioning.

He doesn’t make shortlist for player of the year and sometimes doesn’t even make team of the year that isn’t my perception. Let’s be clear this is a forward resetting both Premier League and LFC scoring records whilst hardly taking free kicks and penalties and mostly playing as a wide forward not CF. All whilst creating more than any other attacker during the time he’s been here.

Salah is a truly world class talent and one of the very best the Premier League has ever seen. It might be my perception that he isn’t appreciated enough but the lack of personal awards, nominations and accolades it kind of feels like it’s not just my perception.

If you ever see me comment during games it is me or from what I see not what commentators say or other posters say. I make up my own mind.

…based on the evidence presented to you. If the evidence presented to you is examples of Salahs “selfishness” pointed out and shown and remarked on over and over again without ever any in depth analysis on whether passes that he “should” have made would have;

A: Actually been successful (I know of instances where there has been huge outcries over passes he never attempted and not once was it highlighted that an opposition defender was actually placed with a 50/50 chance of cutting out the ball that was “on”).
B: Actually achieved anything. Just because a pass is open doesn’t mean the teams best goal scorer should move the ball he is in control of to another player with no better chance of scoring. Seen that moaned about too particularly with Mane but Mane hasn’t been in any better situation than Salah was already in.

If you are able to view evidence presented as Salah being “shown” to be selfish, over and over, remarked upon as selfish over and over, and still somehow make a decision that has been completely free of all influence then your decision making ability boarders on superhuman because that’s typically not how human decision making goes. If you also, managed to do this successfully without influence, and still came up with the conclusion that he is selfish against the evidence then your decision making is still flawed.

Just because Salah doesn’t always make the pass doesn’t mean he is selfish. His role he fulfils for Klopp is as the most advanced goal scoring option and he’s the top scoring player in the premier league since his arrival (even if you ignore his first season as some seem to demand which makes no sense, he’s still top scorer). So his role, as per the team tactics is to be the most responsible player on the pitch to attempt to score. Despite this he is still the forward in the league most likely to fashion chances and assists for a teammate. His job isn’t to pass and set up others it’s to score yet despite being a success at that he also is incredibly efficient at choosing when his teammates are better placed to receive the ball and attempt goals themselves. Just because he doesn’t do it every time a casual view shows there may have been an option doesn’t change the results that he’s the best forward in the league at spotting when those opportunities are actually there.

Selfish is an insulting term and it’s used to tarnish his reputation and legacy. It doesn’t fit the facts or results of how he plays. On results he’s the most generous attacker in the league. It surprises me that not only do Liverpool supporters actually fail to argue against the tarnish but they actually argue for it in significant numbers. Never saw it with previous attempts to tarnish other Liverpool stars in the past. Not sure why our fan base (or a significant portion of it at least) act differently with Salah than they did with the likes of Torres and Suarez.

To me, Salah, Mane and Firmino are like the 3 best friends forever where there will always be 2 who will be criticizing each other, arguing with each other and the chill one who will say ‘ok ok chill chill chill’ and yet when shit hits the fan, they will stand together and look out for each other.

To me that is a very important and healthy relationship for us, abit of healthy tension and competition but yet all remaining focused on the team goals.

To be fair, some might use it in a negative ways, but selfish has been used on alot of top strikers throughout time, even our God, Fowler, said this " selfishness is all part of being a prolific striker" and he used it in the context that all top strikers have this self belief that they will always score. So it can be positive to be labelled selfish, I think as long you prove with stats that your results justify your self belief…unlike Bendtner who calls himself the best striker in the world but nothing to show for HAHA!
