Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

Maybe he wants improved terms in order to allow generations of his family to live securely. Maybe he wants it because he knows how far it could go in terms of improving the lives of people back in his homeland. I would be very careful in terms of suggesting it’s purely an ego thing with Mo.

It’s all mind games for next time.

Maybe he doesn’t care where his paycheque comes from. So let him go chase Euro’s like Gini did, or Phil did, or Luiz did. I don’t want to see him go, but I’ve yet to see a player in either sport who will try to leverage terms with John W Henry et al and succeed. Especially when he’s already making a collective wage of ~£350/week between salary and performance bonuses.

Nobody did it before from the position of being the best player in the world and a now automatic selection in the clubs greatest ever eleven.

I’d wager John Henry will dig deep into his pockets.

It’s shit or get off the toilet time

it really comes down to numbers and what LFC think they can afford going forward with player wages. Salah is still on the books until 2023, so another full season and at which point he’ll be 31 years old. At that age, we would hope to get another 2-3 years out of him before serious decline.

It’s not very often that a club will sell their best player, but LFC is one of those clubs that won’t break their structure to keep one either. they may just hang onto him until his contract is over and let him choose his path, like what happened with Gini, Emre Can, etc.

Liverpool may also be smart enough to think we’d have to spend a transfer fee circa £100m to get close to adequately replacing him and then a wage packet on top of that of £200k+ a week anyway, so you might as well just give that cash to Mo :man_shrugging:

Or maybe they just dumped £78mil into Kirkby and are planning on Harvey Elliot taking that RW role as his own. :man_shrugging:

Possible.

I think where we are with the squad right now though there isn’t much of a pressing need to add anyone new, it would be replacing players that are already here but want to leave, and if that can be done either through internal promotion or matching outgoing player fees with those coming in, then that might leave more cash in the club to spend on bigger wages for Mo.

The club were willing to give a sizeable new deal to Hendo who misses a fair chunk of every season, they must have prepared themselves to also go big for Mo - either through direct wage increase or through signing bonus. Ultimately, question still remains though can the club offer enough to Mo.

There are only 2 people in the world who can do next season what Mo is doing this Should Mo leave.

One is Mbappe, the other is Haaland.

Both will want 500k + wages, Mbappe will be on a free and Haaland will cost 70odd million with that clause in his contract.
Other clubs being involved will push the wages up so just wise the fuck up and pay Mo

Exactly this. People need to wind their necks in trying to justify letting the best player in the world leave.

Time will tell. I think if they can agree on numbers then the club will definitely re-sign Mo. I’d be curious to know what that number would look like to FSG. Considering their current structure (heaviest contract is £220/week) I don’t see them blowing that number out of the water. I’d be guessing their offer would come in at £250-275/week and heavy performance-based incentives that would see him reach £400/week if he and the club reach their targets.

Virgil van Dijk £220,000 £11,440,000 2025
Mohamed Salah £200,000 £10,400,000 2023

There is also the possibility that should Mo leave, the club find an alternative option outside of the two you have named who has a similar impact for us. After all, Mo wasn’t touted as being amongst the best in the world when we signed him, yet pretty much made his mark here almost immediately.

probably one of the outstanding evolutions of this club since Klopp’s arrival is their ability to select and recruit players who fit into the system and into the dressing room. Although it would appear that Mane isn’t enjoying his football as much as Salah lately, there’s a good comradery amongst the players. I would think the club would feel confident they could attack a good young attacker who could step in an contribute.

Evolution is the key word for Liverpool under Klopp. Each season we appear to add something new and get better. Look at how dominant we have become at attacking set pieces. Fans have often bemoaned the lack goals from midfield, this season we appear to have added them now.

I don’t think there is a chance this doesn’t get done.

Mo will take home near enough 400k in a good season anyway. I think it probably comes down to a negotiation around what proportion is upfront and what is in bonuses.

The main thing is that he wants to stay, and I suspect he also knows that there are not many clubs that can give him the platform to achieve the profile and accolades that he wants. His best bet is LFC.

Dig deep John.

I’m one of those fans. StevieG was a tough player to replace. I don’t think Naby has all the tools, but he’s starting to show us the player that we thought we were getting from RB Leipzig. We would all love a Steve Mk2 in the midfield with that cannon of a right boot that forces the lob block to close him down, but I don’t think any other player in the squad has that. I don’t think there are many players around right now that have that kind of skill.

To much money to made to cancel it now, no matter the stupidity. It will be played in the States before it is cancelled.

Mane needs a pay rise as well.
How can Ox earn more than him? Crazy.
