Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

10% of the 2000 were scored by Salah and Mané.

Mo’s agent wants 10% of LFC revenue as a salary, and no sharing with Mane.

Don’t think Mo’s wife is your typical WAG, somehow.

You know why I know the SI piece is bollocks, it mentions Juventus.

Another club that’s pretty skint.

i can see city stirring the pot as per ronaldo…

but i dont see us taking the bait, so they either end up with a 30 plus year old on 500k a week, or the bluff gets called out

newcastle are surely a non starter…maybe in a few years time, but Mo doesnt have those few years to work with the project as he did with LFC

Chelsea…nah…utd…surely not, even for them its a level of daftness.

leaves PSG and Madrid unless the landscape dramatically changes in the next 12 months…either one of them i can see him playing for but it will never be the same for him as here.

its a delicate balance, but i can easily see a situation where mo extends another year with better but not ‘Haaland/Mbappe’ level terms then a bumper walk for free moment at 31/32…

That’s true but they wont be able to offer what Salah isn’t getting here.

They signed a deal with a US sports company giving them $400m a year for 25 years. They also have players Bale leaving, freeing up space on the wage bill.

Thanks; as you know, I haven’t been interested in the business of football lately. :+1:

I can’t see Salah running down his contract. He’ll be 31 by then. He seems to be after a big money contract…there’s no guarantee his form would have remained steady till then. My guess is he forces a transfer in the summer.

What I really really don’t like is that his manager indicated to Romano that he would want to stay in the premier league. What kind of passive aggressive conniving shit is that?

He can try and force a move all he wants we know John W Henry’s form on that.

If we sell he will go abroad all this could however be gamesmanship. Though at what point do we go ah well offer is there take it or leave it. Approaches like that from his agent this week isn’t going get him anything better.

If Salah really wants to stay then there is a deal but he needs to consider reigning in his agent.

I really don’t get the money thing at all. This is a guy who surely will never want for anything for the rest of his life and neither will his family…

I would have far more respect if he said he wanted to go for a new challenge or family reasons or because he wants to experience a new country or city. Surely the talk of going to another EPL club is just bluster. It’s PSG or Barca I guess…

Anyway we will survive…

The bottom line is …if he wants to stay, he will…no matter what the agent says. Ultimately it is his call.

Just please don’t even consider destroying your legacy by going to City or Newcastle, Mo.

I actually get that part. He comes from a developing country and was born in a village? When you’re from that background there is no state social security. So before his legs run out I can understand wanting to secure the lives of future generations.

What I don’t like is the side comments and poison from his agent

Agree.

When you are talking about crazy wages of a footballer is there much difference between £300k and £400k? Or £400k and £500k? It’s obscene money and money the likes of none of us on here will ever get.
It would take me about 8/9 years (based on my current job) to earn a footballers weekly wage of £350k ands that’s if I spent £0 for those years.
Trouble is footballers don’t live in the real world.
Say Salah wants £400k a week and that’s before his sponsorships / image rights kick in. So he’d probably get nearer to £500k a week anyway.
The club cannot afford to give 1 person nearly £2m a month. If the club let him run down his deal and leave in 18 months then so be it. I hope it gets sorted but I’ve always said in this thread that the deal won’t get done and Mo leaves at the end of next season.
Lfc made Mo the player he is and gave him the success beyond his dreams. Let’s hope Mo sees a bit of sense and not ££££ signs.
Would love to be a fly on the wall in negotiations.

Salah is a cash cow for the agent and he knows this is probably Salah’s last chance for a massive contract, which of course gives the agent another huge fee, plus whatever else is agreed between them. The agent is a slimeball and doesn’t give a fuck about Salah or where he plays his football, his only interest is lining his own pockets. Why can’t Mo see him for what he is and get rid?

I think there’s another dimension of this issue. When we talk about his wage we are considering his and his family’s needs. What about his social obligations? As far as I know Salah lives a rather modest life and he has considerable social (charitable) involvements too. In an improvised country like Egypt, there’s can’t be too much charity.

Personally I think Mo and his agent will part company because this is his agent all the way, Mo loves Liverpool and was delighted when we believed in his ability brought him here.

I think Mo is a very honourable man. If he stays next season and leaves on a free, I don’t think he’ll develop Coutinhoitis in his lower back. However I equally don’t think he’ll have quite the same drive knowing if he saves himself he’s throwing hard ten at the craps table for two hours straight at the end of the season. If he doesn’t sign, I’d just advise not to let the door hit him on the way to PSG/Real/City this summer. We’ve done rather well in the past with transfers. 2 more Diaz level players and a young midfielder to mould would be lovely. He plays very well in our system, no guarantee that translates to any other team.

Although KDB feeding him would be rather a concern.

If he went to City don’t you think the love would turn to disdain? For me a step way too far…

Really can’t see it happening…the nightmare scenario.

If he was to go to citeh or newsandcastle on a free in 2023, then I’d expect Naby lad or Milner would put in a massive reducer in his last week so that he could really get to know his new backroom team when he left.

But agree he ain’t going to either club.

If Mo’s driving force is ££££ then why not Newcastle if they offer £1m per week? If he’s big on philanthropy, his earning at max potential is more important than success.
