Hi Mo,
Obviously you read this. It seems that the fans really have no idea what the issue is if itās not money.
Could you tell us please?
Thanks,
The Fans
Itās not about the money, but gives no actual reasons to show how it isnātā¦
āThe ongoing stand-off over a new deal isnāt about him feeling tempted to embark on a fresh challenge or experience life elsewhere. The 29-year-old hasnāt had his head turned by a rival. This is about money, respect and recognition.ā
Money? Letās park money, thats one of the factors and stated.
Respect? Off who? Klopp? The Fans? Unconditional Iād sayā¦ Leaving FSG, but is it a lack of respect not making him one of the worlds highest players? Or is it sticking to our wage structure?
Recognition? Arguably the same as respect.
So all three if you break down, itās about the money being offered. Just wish there were no comments as it makes Salah look like heās not being truthful. I get why he wants to be paid what he rightly deserves, I also see why he canāt be paid that by us. To me thatās not a lack of respect of recognition, itās accepting the reality of the club who alongside your drive and ability turned you into the world class player you are continuing to operate the business model which has allowed us to compete and succeed at the very top of the game.
He has 1 option if he doesnāt renew, I reckon, PSGā¦ Good luck in that souless club.
It could be about contract length which is not about money, per se, but actually is. If he is looking for a 5 year extension but the club are only offering him 3 then there is the distinct possibility that his next contract would be significantly less.
The only other thing I could think of is that he wants a guaranteed number of games. We know he wants to play every second of every game, which is partly why we love him, but is that going to be possible with a 35 year old player?
For Wijnaldum it was very much about the contract length, so yes it was about the money, but only indirectly. Think @RedWhippet is right about this one, and that may be where the respect factor comes in, that we think that heās not going to be at his peak for as long as he thinks.
Iām still relaxed about it - itāll get sorted, and if it doesnāt - see ya Mo, enjoy not being as successful elsewhere as that grass isnāt always greener - Gini, Phil and co will tell you that.
Re the interviews, would be interesting to know when he actually gave them? Are they actually from the last 2-3 weeks? Or are they 2-3+ months old and the publications only now getting them out.
