Mohamed SALAH: 2023/24

Osimhen won African player of the year.

In terms of Lols - Onana makes the X1, whilst Yassine Bounou makes GK of the year - why Yassine Bounou isn’t both makes little sense to me.

Would have been further up the list if he didn’t waste time at Chelsea. Only Hodgson with a better goals to games ratio as well(at 1.56 as opposed to Salah’s 1.64). Also puts into context how untouchable Rush’s numbers seem.

I know I have been critical of Mo but this from Merson puts things into perspective

Worrying when you need Paul Merson to put things in perspective!

Can’t understand how anyone would be critical of Mo. We’re totally reliant on him these days to score or assist if we’re gonna win a game. I miss the days when Mane and Bobby were around to help him out

It’s cos when Mo was a kid he had the bravery to throw apple cores at the bin and brought that attitude into his football

Not the first time I say this, but never liked his penalty technique.

Right now he’s at:

31 scored and 7 missed for Liverpool = 81.5%.
38 scored and 9 missed in his career = 80.8%.

Oh and phenomenal assist for Gakpo.

His pass to Jota for the Curtis goal was filthy

He said it after the game, he’s very superstitious.

Great quote on Redmen TV.

“He might not look like he’s playing really well but he’s the top scorer, he’s the top assister in the premier league and Liverpool are top of the table”

Maybe after that first half he thought something a bit more waterproof might help? TBH, I’m surprised that we didn’t see half the guys coming out in wellies.

Salah, 31, denied that superstition played a part in his decision to switch his boots but admitted that it may have played on his mind had he not made the change.

“The other ones (boots), I missed the pen with, I just trained with it (them) yesterday,” Salah told Sky after the match at Anfield.

“It’s not superstitious because you play with many boots but when I felt like it was going to play in my head it was like, ok, I’ll change the boots.

“It’s silly but I didn’t like to have that [thought] in the second half, ‘this one I didn’t score with’… I changed, made my mind calm and focused on the game.

“We missed a lot of chances, I missed a pen. At half-time I was like, ‘Ok, are you going to leave for the national team with that performance? Not really.’

“I had to really focus and step up to make a difference and I managed to do so.”

But Saka’s better

I haven’t but I’d be interested to see who takes while he is away. I know Dom takes them for Hungary but he seems injured now and for how long who knows.

If we happen to get one, I assume Jota might.
