Still rumbling on… Let them tear chunks off each other is what I say :0)

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has hit back at Jamie Carragher following his comments about Aaron Ramsdale during the north London derby on Sunday.

Ramsdale was an unused substitute during the Gunners’ 2-2 draw with rivals Tottenham, with summer signing David Raya being preferred to the England international.

And, despite the fact he may be losing out on his No.1 spot at the Emirates, Ramsdale showed a heap of support for his team-mate during the tense North London Derby.

One instance of that came after a brilliant stop from Raya in the first-half was met by clapping and smiling from benched star Ramsdale.

During post-match analysis, on Sky, Carragher said: ‘I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that. He’s absolutely devastated with that really.’

Later that evening, Nick Ramsdale replied to a Tweet about Carragher’s comments and said: ‘You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has’.

And now, ex-Sky Sports presenter Keys has weighed in on the situation and praised Ramsdale’s father for his rebuttal to the ex-Liverpool star.

Writing in his blog, I was interested to see Aaron Ramsdale’s dad leap to his son’s defence by lambasting Jamie Carragher for his comments during the derby game. Good on him. I feel for Ramsdale. He’s a terrific ‘keeper and made of the right stuff, which is why he’ll turn up elsewhere and go on to have a very good career

'I didn’t agree with Carragher’s midweek assessment that Arsenal would never win the title with Ramsdale in goal. When I saw that my initial reaction was ‘nonsense’, because they were a whisker away from doing so last season.

‘But then I realised that Carragher played in a team that was never going to win the title with him in it, so he probably knows more about the subject than me’.

:0)

I can’t stand either Carra or Keys. There are very few pundits that I can bear to be fair. I wish there was an option to lose the commentary/punditry and just leave the crowd noise.

Surprised he hasn’t joined his mate in Saudi. His hoofball style of play would no doubt suit their league…also could compete with the camels in the spitting league.

Carra reacted poorly but filming/goading out the passenger window whilst driving on a dual carriage AND listening to The Fray - How to save a Life…makes me believe the driver’s a bit of a cunt himself.

Carra’s a dope but he was a good defender and won more than Rammsdale ever will. Keys? Monkey hands is pathetic.

They won’t dare do that because they know most people would go for it.

I don’t mind a commentator on his own that some of the leagues around Europe have on BT/TNT that’s fine.

His version of hoofball was handy in 2005?

You don’t have to like him, but he won a European Cup with Liverpool.

Even more sickening than the spitting is the dad. Absolutely delighted that his daughter got spat at, knowing he would get some attention on the internet. Wanker. I would have thrown the phone away and dragged Carra out of his car

There is the kernel of this issue.
Father allows his daughter to be spat at, and makes himself a hero because of it.

If Carra was off SKY with a broken nose I would respect the father a lot more.

Isn’t the issue why anyone things giving shit to someone minding their own business is somehow a proper way of acting in public.

Smacking someone just adds to the pathetic mess it was.

I saw Stephen Hendry getting a coffee in Nero last week, I didn’t go up to him and go “hey Stevie you are fucking wank nowadays might as well give it up”.

Leave him alone, there’s virtue-signalling going on here.

Simon Jordan slammed for ‘using Hillsborough slur’ as Liverpool MP writes to talkSPORT

Simon Jordan’s comments have been heavily criticised by one of Liverpool’s leading Members of Parliament, who is also a survivor from the 1989 Hillsborough disaster

Former Crystal Palace owner and now talkSPORT broadcaster Simon Jordan has been accused of using a “Hillsborough slur” by the Member of Parliament for Liverpool West Derby Ian Byrne.

Jordan is known for the blunt and controversial views he airs on the flagship radio show he hosts alongside former Sky Sports News presenter Jim White. When commenting on the Premier League’s decision to release the VAR audio from Stockley Park during Tottenham Hotspur’s controversial victory over Liverpool, Jordan said it was the right decision, as a “conspiracy theory” and “victim culture of Liverpool fans” may have built up if they refused.

The term “victims” has frequently been used in “tragedy chants” from rival fans who have shamelessly sang songs about the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, which saw 97 supporters lose their lives in the FA Cup semi-final. After Jordan’s comments aired on the radio station, Byrne, who survived the horrific disaster, condemned the entrepreneur’s use of the “slur” in a letter he wrote to talkSPORT’s head Liam Fisher.

“I have written to TalkSPORT re the use of the term ‘victim culture’ by Simon Jordan,” the MP said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “He is fully aware of its use by rival supporters against LFC, its connotations to Hillsborough & how its use undermines what many supporters are doing to tackle tragedy chanting.”

Jordan’s comments concerned the controversial moment which saw Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Darren England fail to overturn an offside decision unfairly made against Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, who thought he had given Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead. The former Palace owner urged referees’ governing body PGMOL to show transparency by releasing the audio from within Stockley Park at the time

“If they don’t release the audio, they’ll be asked why they’re not releasing it,” Jordan began. “Then what you’ll do is you’ll build up this conspiracy theory, this victim culture of Liverpool fans, of being penalised by a goal that was disallowed.”

Jordan’s comments, specifically the use of the term “victim culture” was not challenged by White. As part of his letter, Byrne laid out how the term “always the victims” has been weaponised against Liverpool supporters in tragedy chants and general comments.

“Jordan knows the truth about Hillsborough and yet has chosen to propagate this smear to millions of listeners,” a part of the letter read. “This type of behaviour from someone with a significant media profile sets back the collective efforts of so many who are trying to end this toxic discourse.

“I therefore urge you to, at the very least, ask Mr Jordon to reflect on his comments, apologise to the families and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster and commit to not using the phrase again.
