There was a day very early on in Linekers TV career on grandstand where for some reason or other, probably illness, loads of the anchors disappeared at short notice, and Lineker ended up stepping in and covering hours of coverage of loads of different sports.
He came off Football Focus, and ended up running through to like 5pm or something. That got him really noticed.
I’d like Gaby Logan to get the MOTD job. She’s been doing football for years and I think she is really good.

I know the main MOTD guy is a big deal, but didn’t Lineker already announce about 2 times that he’s leaving?
Been mostly rumours.
Jenas was obviously lined up but he’s got zero chance and frankly I’m glad about that.

To be fair to Carragher Forest finished 17th last season (10 points from relegation without the points deduction). 16th the previous, 4 points from relegation, having been promoted the season before that. I think it’s safe to say that virtually no one would have seen them in 3rd at the halfway mark.
