Let’s be clear, even if these players are out of form (Trent, VvD, Robbo, Fabinho, etc.), they didn’t just become shite overnight. However, it’s quite clear that the team is wildly unbalanced due to injuries and transfers: Klopp (read: FSG)'s small squad size is useful in terms of harmony, but only when people aren’t getting injured left and right. When the latter happens, the gamble fails — and it has failed big time.
Mane leaving reeks of Alonso’s departure (Benitez fucked the couch on that one) in terms of destabilizing the team to a far greater extent than expected. It’s not the only factor, but it is a significant one.
It’s not a small squad. The fact it is bloated and undre idea conditions would be 2 or so players smaller is probably a better indication that we dont have quite what we need. It’s like in US football there is a saying, if you have 2 QBs you have 0 QBs…if you need 24 players to get you through a season then too many of those you cannot rely on.
I just think Klopp has to rebuild the team abit now and concentrate on the youngsters. We have to have the pain of losing a few games to get the the young lads more game time.
