New European Super League

Agree, but this is what makes it even more grating. We’ve ceded the moral high ground to these fucking hypocritical chancers? It’s absolutely soul-destroying. But if it helps shame the club into backing out then good.

Yep reading the Perez comments today has just staggered me, he’s something else. Doesn’t even try and deny it’s to save his club from it’s debts.

On another note Henderson has called an emergency meeting of all captains! Fucking have it. The backbone of our captain.

Very unlikey to happen but it would be amazing if the players issued a public statement condemning the whole thing and refusing to take part in it.

That Zeit article is only about Uefas threat to ban ESL players for Euros/World cups etc. Not about the national leagues.

The number of fans absolutely ripping the piss out of Aubameyang attending the meeting of the captains has made my day. It makes up about half of the replies to the Mike Keegan tweet :joy:

Whether there is or isn’t is not the point. There are some positives to an ESL, but a whole load of negatives. Weighing these up, it’s difficult not to come to the conclusion that the ESL will be bad for the fans and bad for football. That’s why so many are against.

That move would only punish the players… again. Awful imo

Yup

I can’t see how they can force themselves to be able to take part in a league considering they are about to set up an exclusive league.

I think the PL as its rules stand and as it’s set up can probably removed all six clubs, I assume they would demoted to the FL, then FFP would become an amusing side show in all this considering the EFL’s approach to it.

I’ve read that it wouldn’t be possible for the six clubs to banned from the PL. Apparently, PL rules require a 75% majority to expel a club. Only 14 would vote in favour and that’s 70%.

Perhaps someone who knows what they’re talking about could confirm that?

I thought 14 was the number of course if this “furious club” pull out then that tips the scales.

BREAKINGPost update

The Premier League have released a statement…

The Premier League, alongside The FA, met with clubs today to discuss the immediate implications of the Super League proposal.

The 14 clubs at the meeting unanimously and vigorously rejected the plans for the competition. The Premier League is considering all actions available to prevent it from progressing, as well as holding those shareholders involved to account under its rules.

The League will continue to work with key stakeholders including fan groups, government, Uefa, The FA, EFL, PFA and LMA to protect the best interests of the game and call on those clubs involved in the proposed competition to cease their involvement immediately.

The Premier League would like to thank fans and all stakeholders for the support they have shown this week on this significant issue. The reaction proves just how much our open pyramid and football community means to people.

You prioritise it now because it’s special. It won’t be special when it’s happening very week

That’s right. General Resolutions require a 2/3rds majority (so at least 14/20) but expulsion requires a Special Resolution and that needs a 3/4qtrs majority (so at least 15/20).

I can’t see how the PL could kick them out unless one of the 6 backtracked and agreed to betray the others…ahem. Do it Liverpool. Do. It.

Problem lies it also seems the clubs have broken the rules on this super league by becoming founding members.

This is all becoming messy.
