One is French and the other German but I guess the broader issue is the mal content that is so easily stoked - neither smoke and both agree that it is wrong, and yet, there is an a level of outrage that is disproportionate to the proposal…

I just checked and France also has a smoking ban when children (under 12) are in the car.
I know what you mean about the outrage, though. It always reminds me of Harry Enfield’s Self-Righteous Brothers sketch, where they get angry about strangely imagined situations.

Exists in France as well but it’s not enforced and noone knows about it.
Also from this summer there’s an interdiction on smoking on public beaches and children’s play areas in parks.
Being a smoker I find all this very frustrating.

It’s supposed to be forbidden anywhere around schools now too.
But that doesn’t stop the Directrice at my daughter’s college from having a fag right outside the gates. lol

They are targeting smokers, but I think they are specifically targeting those that enjoy a spliff. Be it behind a wheel of a car, or in certain social areas.
Even if it’s a neat spliff, no tobacco?

It’s both amusing and confusing to follow, but I haven’t had time to read much about it, so don’t know enough to comment really (other than the obvious headline and ingress stuff). But I haven’t read any actual articles. Sometimes I wish I had twice as many hours a day available for reading and that my eyes never tired. Alas.
