Sometimes there is always a case that stretches principle and penetrates the emotions unfavorably.This is barbaric and heart breaking but capacity to act as a legal entity goes to the root of most western legal systems.
It is another question, and we would have to invite input from people with better knowledge of Sha’ria law, but I doubt this offender gets to live in any Islamic based legal system.

Actually I am a civil lawyer too; I gave up criminal law years ago, it actually is very upsetting. Imagine the lawyer that has to deal with this, and then another one in 4 months.
My beef lies with neo-liberalism. The offender should clearly not have been out on the streets, but it is too expensive to deal otherwise.
