Nice! This is good enough for me, get him in.

It would be fun to watch Minteh and Frimpong on the same side.

Yeah, I really do like the idea of getting in Minteh. No, he’s not the finished article… but also, he’s 21 so plenty of time and opportunity to improve.

I’ve always been a big advocate of quality over quantity, but right now at this point in time, we just needs loads of bodies. I’d take the €150m Euro’s PSG are going to demand for Barcola, and spread it across two or three players.

I don’t have a good feeling about Barcola either; hopefully, we don’t sign him. He isn’t worth that much money; I’ve come to think they’re trying to fleece us.

Totally unreliable then?

As a Gemini myself, I take issue with this.

I’m actually on board with the Minteh idea, but… if we really want him that badly, why is it taking so long? He could—or should—have been here meanwhile, at least before we start our pre-season tour. Just how far down the list is he, and why does the whole situation feel so strange right now? Are we perhaps waiting for something else after all?

I find it incredibly strange, to put it mildly, that we simply let Salah go without having anyone lined up.

In his press conference on Monday, Iraola was asked about Liverpool’s reported interest in Barcola and Diomande and whilst refusing to comment on individual players at other clubs did say that the team ‘need one more winger’.

If Barcola was the next on the list after Diomande maybe they want to wait until that transfer was discussed post World Cup before looking at other wingers.

In the meantime there are some other positions in the squad I hope they are looking at but maybe the quality of targets they go for depend on how much money is left after the new winger.

I think the problem with Minteh is that he has a similar profile to Munoz. So I think we want the new winger to be a goal-scoring winger rather than a pure winger. We can’t put all the scoring responsibility on Isak.

That makes sense of why Diomande and Barcola are the top 2 targets - both have elite goal-scoring numbers. But I think Minteh is the safer choice. I don’t put much trust in Bundesliga numbers, and Barcola’s performance in Ligue 1 vs the Champions League is so different. That is a huge question mark.

I actually think Minteh is the least risky signing, even if he might not have the highest upside.

He’s already proven he can handle the Premier League. He’s got a full season of PL football under his belt and significantly more top-flight minutes than Rayan has had at Bournemouth. Physically, he has elite traits. He’s been clocked at over 36 km/h in the Premier League, putting him among the faster wide players in the league. (Diomande and Barcola are both very fast as well)

What really stands out to me, though, is the defensive side of his game. Minteh isn’t one of those wingers who switches off when possession is lost. His tackle numbers are outstanding for an attacker, ranking among the very best Premier League wingers for tackles won and defensive-third tackles. You can see it watching him as well. He tracks back, presses aggressively and helps his full-back constantly.

I have no doubt he’d quickly become a fan favourite at Anfield. He’s incredibly direct, always looking to run at defenders, carries a real threat in transition and works his socks off defensively. Those are the sort of players I love to support. The big concern is his end product. The chance creation is fairly encouraging, but his shooting is poor compared to the other names being discussed. He gets into good positions, but his finishing and overall goal return don’t yet match the quality of Rayan or Barcola.

That’s why I’d probably say Minteh has the highest floor but the lowest ceiling of the players we’ve been linked to. Personally, I’d rather take the more proven option for well under £100m than pay £100m+ for someone who might have a higher ceiling but also carries a much bigger boom-or-bust factor. Minteh feels like a signing most likely to succeed, even if he isn’t necessarily the most exciting name on the list.

Agree, he seems like a ‘money ball’ Liverpool signing from earlier FSG days. Minties were always my go to movie lollie as well so, putting it all together, surely we can’t go wrong with Yankuba Minteh.

Isn’t he a centre forward? Also the Cape Verde game where Yemal and someone else wasn’t playing would give a reason why he isn’t sought after. Typical international striker.

Though he has netted me a fair few quid this world cup so thanks for that.

Has there been any discernible link for at least two years on Bowen? And if Liverpool came a calling he isn’t going sit at West Ham, reason he is there and saying this is no ones shown any interest.

Could a deal be done for Ferran Torres? Into his last year of his Barcelona contract (Source?). Still only 26 (Source?). Ready to take the next step and be a regular goal scorer (Source?).

Make. It. Happen.

I think he’s a bit of a weirdo. He’s talented, but has never really settled anywhere. It’s strange a guy can be 26, have multiple top level titles to his name including scoring the winning goal in a world cup final, and still have people waiting to see if he’s going to figure his shit out and establish himself as a proper player somewhere.

Remind you of anyone? Mohammed Salah was 26 when he joined us. It’s written in the stars I say.
