I was an idiot and forgot that we’re signing two CBs. There’s no more association spots left for Davies, so he and Kabak would both have to go among the 17. (Or, as @GermanRed points out, we deregister Gomez and give Davies his AT spot.)

No, Jota wasn’t with them at a young enough age. Jones is on List B which is unlimited.
Association-trained has to be 3 years between the ages of 18 and 21. Jota was still in Portugal (and then Spain) at the time.
Jones will eventually take a club-trained spot, but for the next 3(?) seasons he gets in for free on the U23 List B since he’s been with the club for at least 2 (uninterrupted) years.
