Philippe Coutinho

I think the only issue was that he had to be dropped when agitating for a move. He didn’t have that drove to keep playing and winning. Suarez on the other hand gave 100% even when he wanted off.

Had he had played amazing even when he wanted off he’d be viewed in a different light.

VVD threw a hissy fit because Southampton didn’t fulfil an agreement they had.

The only reason we had over a hundred million for him is how stupid and reckless Barca has been with their transfer spending and our strong bargaining prowess and position. He was great for us for half a season, let’s not pretend he has been consistently a world beater that deserves that price tag. He would probably be closer to the list of ‘LFC players that grossly disrespected the club and fans’ than the list of ‘LFC players we adore’

I think what people are trying to say is he was inconsistent. He was very good for us, but would have games where he would go missing for sure.

Honestly I wasn’t arsed when he left, was way more annoyed when Suarez left.

I think what we should do is a loan with a
Buy option. But fuck his parent club about like the Italians have done us for years. Except this is Barca so it would be 2x as satisfying.

29 coming off a knee surgery maybe need to steer of this one.

Never developed a back injury to not play never got members of family to sling shite at the boss it was 2 very different reactions.

In his final season for us, he played 20 times, scored 12 and had 8 assists,
pretty good stats for some-one wanting away.

another couple of points about Coutinho,

on his back problems, it wouldnt surprise me at all, if he was told to stay away from LFC whilst all the transfer speculation was going on, as his head was not fully focused, and the back problem excuse was used.

also, he was pretty good at free kicks, much better than what we have at the moment.

My point is, he had to be dropped. No backbone. I didn’t suggest he wasn’t decent when he played.

What I would have expected was he carried on at his high level until his deal was done. Instead he cried, took his bat and ball home, and essentially wasn’t big or strong enough to carry on playing for LFC whilst his future was being resolved.

His last six months here was some of the best football he played for us. Strange how history can be reshaped to fit a narrative.

If he’d been shit, we wouldn’t have been able to rinse Barca for £140m😂

I remember the form he showed after when his back problems eased up (at the end of the transfer window) was up there with the best I’ve seen from Liverpool player.

There’s an obvious solution to his predicament and it involves a phone call from Rafa…

Loving your majestic shithousery, wonderful!

I thought they paid us enough already…

Amazing business

Amazing fall from Grace.

Should have been Ballon d’or. Would have been if he had stayed with us

Highly doubt it. He was really good, but not one of the best in the world.

Agreed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player that can have you screaming at the TV in frustration one minute and then hailing genius the next.

Awful one minute and completely magical the next.

We’ve already been paid in full.

Football is a game of differing opinions, as illustrated by these two posts.

Just looking at the facts, Phil was an integral member of the first team and improving each year.

Now the speculation. With Klopp’s guidance, there’s a high probability that had he stayed, he would’ve continued this progress as he had a high potential.

Anyway, what’s done is done. And most of us have moved on. Emphasis on most, as with everything else in life, some people take perverse pleasure in the misfortunes of others.

They’re called Tories.

Oops- wrong thread.

Tories who enjoy schadenfreude please.

To say that Phil was anything but brilliant in his last year or 2 at the club is crazy.

He pulled the strings and was class.
