Corbyn is a fucking worm and shouldn’t be trusted. In my view, the “far right” are what they are today precisely because of social media. Before it, they were relegated to the far corners of society and didn’t permeate the very fabric of everyday discourse like they do today. We live in a world driven by views and clicks and likes and reactions. Extremes on both sides of the political spectrum thrive on that. Get rid, and we’ll see those extremes die down.
Sweeting, please reconsider. Take a break for a while, sure, but don’t leave us. You are, without doubt, one of the most well informed and interesting posters on here and it’s always been a pleasure to interact with you. This place wouldn’t be half as good without you. We’re all confused and upset by yesterday’s events, but time will clarify and heal. We are Liverpool, after all.
I would miss you a lot.
I’m very glad they’re pursuing an attempted murder charge because that’s exactly what this was. If this fucking scumcunt was high or even high on prescription medications that warn users not to drive, then they should throw the book at him.
Couldn’t agree more with the above. These big, algorhythm-driven social media can’t be seen as a societal progress by any means. On the contrary, they have brought forward a monster which needs to be stamped out, that is all.
Compare this to an open discussion forum like this one: it’s night and day.
(@Sweeting, don’t go. We need as many levelheaded posters as possible on here, and it’s people like you who can bring the best out of this place.)
Still a long way to go on this as they haven’t yet charged him with attempted murder, though when he reversed for the 2nd time it looks quite clear he was deliberately aiming the car at the guy kicking and punching the back of it, no other answer than that. Also the footage throws up another question as to why he turned into the crowd? Again looks like another deliberate action but without seeing into the car at the time we can only suggest that he done that knowing full well the outcome of his actions
An interesting article on how the police tried to quell disinformation as soon as possible (by contrast with the Southport events), and the possible dilemmas they could face going forward.
This is what I’ve read too in reddit. He followed the ambulance in thinking that the ambulance would be able to make him a route which would enable him to get out of the crowds.
Last night on my hubbys phone…I saw the incident…and after all the speculation…I said to hubby…I think it’s a drunk driver, who couldn’t care less about rules and closed roads…and has then panicked when he has unfortunately hit pedestrians…well ..so it’s being reported…it was drugs…and tail gated an ambulance to get thru’ the closed roads…what a dick head…you’ve caused grief and mayhem…and spoilt a wonderful day for hundreds of fans…but that won’t affect you…coz you’ll be on the ‘stuff’ again…(sorry for the rant)..
Its a shame we’ve got this horrible event mixed in with what should be our proudest moment. Is there anyway we can separate the two? This would be a treasure of a thread (and I’m thinking keep sake, historically to look back on). If just kept to parade info and slimy shite pushed to a new slimy thread.
I think it will absolutely affect him, as he will highly likely get a prison sentence of at least a year (probably several) even if he is not charged with attempted murder. Also likely a very significant monitary hit to his personal finances on top of that. This is very high profile and has an abundence of evidence.
Let us just hope that he is remorseful and regrets the incident, and not just because he will be very negatively affected by it.
But for now, I think it’s best to wait for the court case.
