He is already taller than Klopp.
more like 6’11’’…if you go by his hair
So glad he played and he looked like he’ll do great in the sub role and soon starting role.
Yeah, Fabinho should be starting at CB and then whomever is fit out of the 2 starts alongside him.
I’ve only seen a brief clip of this but wtf was Gomez doing trying to shepherd the ball like that?
I haven’t seen the game yet but winning away from home in the CL without Alisson, vDijk or Henderson in the starting line up and with substituting our entire frontline fairly early, seems like quite a big win.
Milner can make like the bird and stone kill each other
Really liked how we managed the game in the last half hour; Ajax got no joy whatsoever.
It was far from a perfect or even pretty performance but at the same time it was exactly what was needed. Grinding out wins was something that we hadn’t managed since the restart, this was as good as time as any to start doing it again.
That’s his gift.
Doesn’t he then have a pop at Adrian?
Just fucking leather it, son.
Just a quick aside about the difference a well-prepared journalist makes to our boss’s mood. Compare the ‘agendaless’ questions and Otto Rehagel quote of this guy to the ones asked at the presser yesterday.
It’s a match made in heaven namewise for Rhys to have a German manager. ‘Riese’ is German for giant.
I think we were a bit fortunate to get the win last night but 1-0 away is always a very satisfying result.
I had never heard of Jota before he signed but he is a definite starter for me. How long can we give Firmino to find his mojo again?
Fabinho and Milner were superb. I have man love for Milner. Curtis was one year old when James played his first game…
Moment of the match was Adrian’s air kick as Fabinho cleared it off the line. It’s hilarious.
That is true. While the first hour was all Ajax dominating and us being lucky, the last 30 minutes or so were different. They didn’t have too many chances, and our lads could have put the game away on quick breaks.
Also agree on the grinding out stuff. We have been on a difficult little spell of games. The loss on penalties against Arsenal, then the 7-2 against Villa and finally that disgusting derby the other day, with the injuries, VAR and all. The squad was rattled by all this, and it showed. But with a good amount of luck, they found a way into the game, and the final part of the game was excellent I thought, albeit a bit nervy because our lads couldn’t put our chances into the net.
This is a good result, and something to build on, no doubt about that.
Yeah, i thought he should be booting that. Only thing I can think of is that he got a call from Adrian to let it go. In hindsight, if he did get a call and decided to boot it as Adrian happened along the end result might have been a bit worse.
I completely disagree with the first hour. Never in the match, Ajax dominated us. We had the most ball position, most corners, most (half)chances yes on the break they hit the woodwork and Fabinho did his thing but that was about it.
We were poor especially TAA, Milner, Firmino, Salah but no way Ajax dominated us IMHO.
They dominated in terms of chances created and could have easily been one or two up after a hour or so. In terms of possession, they didn’t keep the ball more than us, that is true, but the way they blitzed us on counters at times was really good.
Was it just my imagination or did the pitch look dry and slow until it started raining?
Well yes. Did you also spot Robbo laughing at Adrian’s excessive and ungainly use of the going to ground trick after claiming that really non-threatening high ball at the end?
He clearly wanted to pass back to Adrian but the keeper rushed off his line making the pass impossible.
I found MOTM hard to choose but the number of times I heard "Gomez clears " and “Gomez clears again” swayed me towards him.
