Post match: Arsenal v Liverpool (EPL 8/1/25 8pm)

And some of their social media heads were saying he would screw them

If Arsenal win the league this season, it would be the direct result of their summer transfer IMO.

They consolidate on their squad and built to win the league.

We on the other hand looked to transform our team, and were willing to accept the inherent risk of a disruption in the short term.

This game affirmed what I’ve always believed. We have a top manager, and I’ll take his game model over Arteta’s, even when being pragmatic…

First half solid and gave them no real chances, came out 2nd half and if we have a striker on the pitch we win. Simple as.
Martinelli should have been off.
More of the 2nd half against Burnley please!!!

Snide cunt Martinelli. Lucky our players showed great composure and didn’t choose to go over and flatten him.

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai speaking to Sky Sports: "We faced an unbelievable team. We showed again why we became champions last season.

“This was a step forward after recent weeks and, yeah, we showed again against a team that is top of the table we can compete and we need to take it with us for the next weeks.”

On Liverpool’s battling spirit: "I think it’s always about fight because in the Premier League you have to fight to get results and today each of us, everybody, showed we are able to do it.

"We have to keep on going and work as hard as we did today.

“Of course it’s not easy to play here against such a great team, but I think none of the teams like to run against the ball in the Premier League, so in the first half we tried to get the ball as much as we could and the second half the same.”

On being off-target: “It looks like I still have to practice [free-kicks] even more, and also about my shooting. But they defended well and we get the one point.”

On Martinelli’s push on Conor Bradley: "I saw that Conor twisted his knee, I don’t know what happened with him, obviously he didn’t want to come back to the pitch for time-wasting, he was just in so much pain he couldn’t even think where he rolled and Gabriel come there and push him off the pitch.

“I understand you want to win, we want to win as well, but I think the health of a player is much more important than something else.”

Drag them down to our level and beat them with experience

Missing our top three forwards and still had them worried at points. Fingers crossed it’s not a bad one for Bradley but fear the worst looking at the replays. Cruel for him.

And fuck Arsenal. Always.

If Keane got sent off for pulling hair, why wasn’t Martinelli for throwing a ball at Bradley, then trying to drag him off the pitch?

Steve, Plymouth

Martenelli was an embarrassment to his club and should get a retrospective red Card for his conduct. Gary Neville was totally correct in his opinions.

I saw someone writing that if Darwin was still with us and near the incident, he would have clocked Martinelli.

Except he would have been hauled off by then after missing three sitters.

Still fucking fuming at Martinelli. First of all why would Conor have been time wasting? We needed the win more than Arsenal and had dominated the second half.

You can see Conor scream in pain as Martinelli shoves him. There’s a chance it could have made the injury worse. One of the worst things I’ve seen on a football pitch. Hope he gets a retrospective ban but even better would be a retrospective 2 footed tackle.

Again, I’m disappointed with how our players don’t stand up for each other. Virgil did nothing. Ali was hugging the cunt. There’s no way Gerrard or Carra would have let him away with that

Worse is that Martinelli had bad injuries before, where was his EQ? Fucking sociopath.

'Liverpool midfield controlled it’published at 22:17 GMT

I was worried about Liverpool’s midfield before the game. I shouldn’t have been because, the second half particularly, they controlled it and were by far the better team.

All credit goes to Liverpool for the way they dominated possession.

'Liverpool performed exceptionally’published at 22:14 GMT

I think Arne Slot will be absolutely delighted with the performance of the players. Got to give him credit for his game plan.

They weathered the storm in the first 20 minutes. After that, their work rate, how tenacious they were, it was a very experienced performance and they showed why they are champions.

They lacked the cutting edge up front, but had very positive moments. Frimpong was a threat all night, Wirtz was very good, picked up a load of pockets and was very clean tonight. The list goes on.

The defence was magnificent. They stopped attacks all night and I think the manager and players should be very proud of themselves. They performed exceptionally tonight.

It is refreshing watching a game thinking you are going to get thumped.

I think tonight was the making of Kerkez, man of the match for me with his blocks and keeping Saka quiet.

After a tough few minutes early on, I’d agree that Milos Kerkez was excellent, Martin.

Second half in particular, he didn’t give Bukayo Saka a sniff

I watched with disbelief that no one took a red card for that cunt. Someone should have decked him. Darwin would have, to be fair.

I just hope that game tonight has planted a seed of doubt in the minds of the Arsenal players… They had a full squad, were on a good run, yet they were bossed tonight by the current Champions - LFC

Decent result and performance.

Hopefully Bradley’s ok

Would be absolutely nowhere near the title if they didn’t pull off that set piece routine every game.

Once it gets worked out, they’re a top 5 team at best.
