Post match: Arsenal v Liverpool (EPL 9/10/22 4.30pm)

I’d put money on Gabriel not being able to understand a Mackem accent. This was the thing that Oliver went to speak to the managers about. Clearly he didn’t hear anything. If no one else did then it’s very much down to who to believe. There was an Everton player that tried this on during the derby a few seasons back.

I’d recommend everyone, for our general mental well-being, stay off general sports sites, occupy yourself with something else. Not a good time to hear external noise about our team right now.

nor some internal ones - on this forum for example!

Wouldn’t that be criminally negligent?

The prick’s name is Holgate.

My analysis: We actually played pretty well in the first half….was pleased considering our form at the moment. Unlucky to be down at the break really. We need to figure out how to not concede first in every fucking match.

2nd half much different story. We were completely lost. Soft penalty, yes, but we didn’t deserve anything out of this half.

I’m tired of folks blaming the referees. Did our performance warrant even a point? No, so fuck off blaming the refs. We need better performances and the results will follow.

Brilliant from Bobby, Nunez, Diaz, and Gomez. Salah is the least in form forward we have and is almost useless out there at the moment. Spare me the “he’s too wide” shit. He is a scared child out there…can’t take anyone on and just dribbles into defender’s feet and loses the ball. He needs some time on the bench to light a fire under him.

Previous experience of this would suggest to just sit out the Henderson racism debate. It ends up becoming something where you either argue racism doesn’t exist or that the accuser is a liar - neither of which are good looks. Hopefully it was a misunderstanding. We’ll find out.

Nobody is denying that we played badly, especially in the second half. But we shouldn’t have to play the officials as well as our opponents every week.

They are two different things that can be addressed separately.

Yes we played badly. And we probably deserved to lose. But we have been CONSTANTLY shafted by referees. It’s probably the reason we lost the league last season. And it continues this season.

So yes we DO need to talk about it.

And in 2013-14. And in 2018-19.

We should have 22 league titles by now, but don’t worry: everything’s fine.

Actually, this was something that I think Oliver handled well on the day. He put it to one side and let the club management know what the situation was. It defused the situation and allowed everything to go through the appropriate channels.

Yeah I mean as fans.

I was glad that Atkinson retired this summer, one less I thought but they found a replacement in Oliver :face_vomiting:

Can Oliver be fined for bringing the game into disrepute?

The problem I have with that is that you just know that when our players do it, that’s when they start enforcing the rules around dissent. Then when we stop, suddenly all’s fine.

The league isn’t won on who deserves it, that’s just a myth fans like to tell themselves.

The truth is, luck plays a massive role even in a perfect world where refereeing is perfect.

Entirely agree.
I see that attitude time and again and it’s absolutely laughable. “We just have to make sure ‘incompetent’ referees don’t cost us points” and other fucking nonsense to that effect.
Oliver and VAR do their jobs properly yesterday and we come away with 3 points.

Sorry , but I was going on the info from TIA…he’s out for 4 months with a ‘complicated injury’ reports say…so come January we may well have to bring someone else in…I know the transfer window is closed…but 4months and recouperation might lead to 6 months…at the moment whoever we look at might be thinking…there’s something wrong at LFC, and they, themselves might not want to come to us, they don’t have to read these posts…just watch our games…and yes…I’ll keep supporting thru’ thick n thin, as I have done for over 50 yrs…I suppose we’re used to the good times, but there has to be some bad…and here they are…

Over 100 minutes played in yesterday’s match. We looked the better team and had control for about 30 of those minutes. What makes you say we would have won had var / the ref done their job? We were brutal and for what our performance warranted. Continually blaming officials prevents looking at our performance and what we need to do to improve.
